Group water scheme instead of Main service

We have sale agreed on a property 1.5 months ago. The EA told us the house is on main water service. Now, the solicitor found out that it's on group water scheme. Solicitor said it should not be a concern. We have never used group water scheme, how is it really? And who should we go to after we move in for the water…
