Parking at Upper Newcastle road

Hi

It is very hard to get Park my in the NUIG grounds.

I see there are a few parking spaces on the upper Newcastle road in Galway city, kinda opposite one of the NUIG entrances.

I looked around yeaterday and could not find any sign to say if I had to pay or not. However, I did see a parking meter a few hundred yards down the road, more so down near traffic lights towards cathedral direction.

Anyone know what the story is with parking on upper Newcastle road?

There is paid on street parking opposite Cairnes all along that stretch

Just at the dropped pin in the attached.

2nd attachment is street view. Parking starts up on left at white van.

Feck. Didn’t know what cairnes was. Just spotted it now on my map.

That’s where I chanced parking yesterday. As I said could not see any signs.

Is it free at weekend?


I drove in all around the campus yesterday, there was loads of spaces for permit holders and staff but only a handful of pay and display , but all pay and display spaces gone. So had to go out to the road.
