I suspect there may only be 130 km gusts on a vary small area of the extreme coastal fringe. It’s probably a tough call. So far Mace Head has topped it. Anywhere else? Be interesting to see.

Should be a red warning but they've left it too late. Everybody is out now. Probably don't want to upgrade now.

    Hopefully nobody gets hurt.

A red warning is 130 km+ are we seeing that outside of a weather station report at the very western tip of Connemara? People can die in orange warning storms too unfortunately, but the thresholds are set by windspeed.

Very very windy here in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo. Reports of trees and branches down. Power going on and off here in office. This is a lot worse than we got for Ophelia. Ophelia never hit Mayo at all.

Met Eireann have called this well tbf with the orange. Maybe a little overshot including the likes of Dublin. Gusts over 110km/h are rare as hens teeth here BUT I'll reserve till it's over.

The issue here is at this time of year with trees in full leaf you have trouble with anything over 90km/h in terms of ability to take down trees.

Most charts showed galway and mayo in excess of 130 gusts. 150 I believe in exposed coasts.

I'm just waiting for the reports of a gobsh1te wind-surfer or jet-skier to have to be rescued by the Lifeboat/Coast Guard during the height of the wind.... Aaaaand to say afterwards that he (always an eejit macho-man) was never in any danger... Grrrrr!

Just back from school run. Hubby and myself had to use branch loppers to move smaller branches so he squeeze out the gate. Violently gusty at the moment. My neighbour has slates down. Garden bench just had to be rescued and now squally rain coming in from Galway bay!

Lot of ppl think that if it affects the West then Met eireann are less interested than if it affects leafy Dublin 4

Dunno if it's reported here but emergency services are trying to reach a caravan with someone inside blown off a cliff, down on a beach but not in water yet.

If their kids lives were at risk, why did they bring them to school. People are so stupid, expect everyone else to make their decisions and make no responsible call themselves

When they give out 'too many' colour warnings they are wrong and when they don't they are wrong. Cannot win.
