I hope all the players are disgusted after watching that poor Kilkenny team making the final.

Shows how much of a loss 2018 was as well... Limerick are good but not the second coming.

True. Maybe Limericks much vaunted style of play isn't all it was meant to be either.

They struggle big time when they can't work the ball through the middle. Tipp showed up that weakness in the round robin game.

Yeah Dublin much stronger physically especially in midfield which is probably the weakest part of the Galway team. Did very well to come back level after being 7 points down but ran out of steam after that. Dublin very cute also in making tactical fouls in the middle third of the field in order to slow the Galway attack and allow them to get men behind the ball. Galway a bit more naive in allowing Dublin players run free right down the centre of the field. Some very bad wides as well.

Ya Galway didnt seem like a well coached team  which is surprising giving the men involved

Physically it looks like a minor team playing a senior team. Alot of poor mistakes but hard to see how they could live with them physically over 60 mins.

This is the perfect illustration of where the real change in Dublins fortunes have come. They train like professionals from minor onwards. Their conditioning and physical power is miles ahead of all other teams and that's the huge deciding factor. Our lads looked like 20yr olds, Mayo look similar as do cork but Dublin look physically like 25yr old senior players.

Saw some stats... we won around 54% of our kickouts in the U20 game.
Granted Dublin had a similar return but it doesn't excuse the fact you can work on them yourself.

That period around the 55th minute was crucial as we kept losing them and couldnt get out of our half and they tacked a few on.

Well done to the minors though, at least the day was saved to a degree.
Such a shame both games were put up against the hurling.
You'd swear there wasnt enough hours in the day.
First game should have been on at 12.

What today showed up for me is how special a team it takes to do two in a row especially with the new format. Limerick looked to tick all the boxes of a team who could go and win two in a row but ultimately they were chasing their tails from the off.

Its obviously not the best team Kilkenny ever put on the field but their mentality is second to none. Of course everyone looks on and says why don't our team have that mentality but Cody has ingrained it in them lads since he came in and anyone who commits to the Kilkenny squad knows they have to tow the line or jump ship. No other manager has had close to his longevity simply because it takes a once in a lifetime manager to sustain that intensity and keep moving with the modern game.

The final last year was a major let down for us but we gave defending the championship as good a go as anyone has or I suspect will for a few years. Tipp for example with all their tradition and history of success haven't been able to put two in a row together since the 1960s. Ultimately the replays cost us in my view, Clare in particular.

This year we weren't on it from the off. If we had stumbled through the Leinster championship and Canning had got more games under his belt and one or two others had found a bit of form who knows but we were papering cracks in the backs and half forward line in particular all year.

However, what the last few years has shown is that there is no clear market leader. This team has been on the road for a few years and yes we probably should have more than 1 All-Ireland but others will argue the same case.

Clare looked like dominating for a spell but never pushed on. Tipp looked all set to dominate a couple of times. Cork have knocked on the door for a number of years. Limerick will have regrets about 2013 and 2014 etc.

We need an infusion of new blood on and off the park. If Micheal Donoghue is staying he needs to freshen up the backroom team a bit and we need to improve our options throughout the side.

For me the most disappointing aspect of this summer was the u20s. We need new players pushing for positions and the tame surrender against Kilkenny at that level worries me. We may well win another minor in a few weeks but to me it doesn't really matter. Under 17 hurling has no real link to senior success. Our big challenge is to sort out our performances at u20 level.

Minor in Dublin has a focus on development if they win a title here and there great but that doesn't seem overly important for them. U20/U21 which is an adult grade the focus has been on a winning mentality and winning as many AIs as possible (this could be their 5th AI this decade).

Their focus is on it as that's where they're pumping their resources. You can't supercharge a minor in the gym but from then on you can. It's blatantly obvious the physical difference that Dublin u20 teams have at the moment and the conditioning is far superior. This translates to the senior team and the seamless integration of new players.

    Fantastic display for the minors.

Thought beforehand the U-20's might win and the minors lose and it turned out vice versa. Hard to tell at underage.

    Fantastic display for the minors.

Well done. The Connacht final demonstrated the quality of this team.
Massive contenders for the All Ireland.

Mc Loughlin and Culhane in particular will be mainstays in your senior team in years to come.

There were two Galway team playing yesterday at the same venue, one in an All-Ireland semi-final, one in a quarter final. Not a peep out of the Galway GAA social media channels yesterday while the counties they were playing were providing score by score updates.

    Bloody shambles. Again.

The matches were been streamed live by tg4 and on radio...so not a big deal

Every other county seems to be able to provide these sort of updates so why can't Galway?

Good showing by the minors in the first half. I would say we should be playing our full forward more as their full back is already on a yellow

McDonagh is different gravy as Mr Mullane would say. If he can be developed through the ranks he has it all.

That Galway U20 football team was talked up as All Ireland contenders but now in hindsight how good were they really?

I don't think Connacht U20 level was as strong this year as some recent years at U20/U21 level and at minor level 2017 Galway also won Connacht and were then knocked out of the championship by Cavan whereby a number of the same Galway players played in that game and only scored 11 times in the game as they did yesterday. Cavan were then well beaten by Kerry in the semi final by Clifford and co.

I wasn't that surprised that both Galway and Mayo won their U17 football quarter finals yesterday because Connacht at that level was very strong and competitive this year (only Leitrim were poor) while from what i seen of Leinster it didn't look to be as strong as Connacht.

Noticed that alright. Was the Galway GAA PRO gone on holidays or something?

We are an embarrassment when it comes to providing score updates

The time was up . The ref gave 6 mins and played an extra one before that melee . Ridiculous when 9 points in it . Should have blown when time was up would have avoided all that hassle

Will McGlynn miss the final so?

Super to have both minor teams still going. Well done lads. McDonagh is a superb hurler
