Terrible defeat. Had it won in normal time. Switched off at a vital moment.
    A cruel lesson learned

Probably the better side in normal time. Won’t be much comfort tonight though.

Were much better first half. Cork took a lot of wrong options and of course got the goal at the death. Galway seemed to be better coached in terms of tactics especially defensively.

Nope. Poor Culhane will be kicking himself over the free to win it. Tiny, tiny margins

Forgot he had a free to win it too. Not the easiest one but he’s kicked more difficult ones.

Very disappointing finish to the year but the team deserves plenty of praise for getting as close as they did.

Should have conceded frees for both goals and taken the yellow cards. Not cynical enough

They're only 16 and 17. Hard to see how you can expect a lad that age to be cynical. Their clubs will be playing 15 on 15 and win your own ball football.

Just getting there is enough. So what if they lose by a few points. They're still the same players and the bit of hurt should stand to them in the future. Kerry won 5 all Ireland minors but we've been there or thereabouts most years. The lads we have coming through are as good as any if given the right coaching and resources.

You would expect u14s to be smart enough to pull them down in that situation

Examiner journalist John fogarty saying that rumblings of a manager stepping down in the west tonight. He broke the donghue news early a few weeks ago so could well be Kevin Walsh stepping down. It's hardly James Horan so not too many other high profile counties it could be.

    Anthony Cunningham, perhaps?

Although, I'd find that highly unlikely tbh.

Hopefully Walsh . Maybe the players are no better then we seen this summer but I would love to find out .

KW out, Rochford and Dave Morris in - goes the rumor mill.

Would be happy with that. Dave Morris meant to be a serious operator according to Corofin people.

With any luck. Have heard nothing so far though

    Any news on the ground?

Is it me or are we more naive than other counties? It seems like we are forever giving away scores at the end when a bit more cuteness and cynical behaviour is required.

Lost more finals than I can remember with teams getting a late run on us. Happens at all grades in both codes.

Was he waiting for the All Ireland final to end before he ducked out so media attention was elsewhere? Be 2 weeks before you get an annoucement now :D

Walsh seems like the sort of man who'd delay announcing his departure because he wouldn't want to put extra pressure on the group in charge of the minors. If he went a fortnight ago I absolutely guarantee you'd have people out there saying saying stuff along the lines of "If the minors win then O Flaharta has been promised the seniors next year".

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,015 ✭✭✭Hulk Hands

I doubt Walsh wants any media furore either. The Monday after a final is about the best time possible to keep it from hitting every back page. Zero confidence in the board picking his replacement on any basis other than who is the cheapest

    Time to bring in rochy

Heard through the grapevine that it's to be Rochford & Dave Morris to replace Walsh. Obviously take it with a grain of salt like all rumours.

However last time we had a former Mayo manager it didn't go too badly!

Don't remember Peter Ford's reign all that fondly myself. ;)

Where are those odds? Not on PP.

Rochford has confirmed he's staying with Donegal. Bonner + backroom team ratified at county board meeting last night.

County board statement is short, sloppy with a couple of typos, and focuses on themselves while leaving off some of Walsh's achievements. The incompetence in there will never cease to amaze

True its hard to have faith in them picking his successor.. Then perhaps they may stumble on a good un by accident and then take all the credit for themselves
    Tis their nature
