Fact Galway county board are in talks with a manager who has delivered an all ireland in the last ten years. . No more Strawberrys for Davy.
Something more tasty and tempting. Linking up with successful senior camogie and hurling club managers in galway over the last two years. Both banner men who have previously worked with davy before.

Interesting.when can we expect to hear more

PJ can pull in the money we need lads. PJ can pull in the money. That's the plan our CB have. Jesus. Wept.

If it's true I don't think it's a good move. He's suited to teams who are up and coming and need to tightened up a defence and build some confidence. We don't need any of that.
How can you justify starving Donoghue of funds then forking out 100k for Davy just to sign on.

If we're spending money like that id prefer it went on Rochford.

They had right to keep Donoghue at any cost cos he was the best you’d get and move on Kevin Walsh for the want of change and spend money tempting rochy in.

I can guarantee we won't win an all Ireland under Davy. Seems to me like a group that needs a sense of calmness and business like direction. You're not going to be getting these lads jumping out of their skins and kicking down dressing room doors. It's the most experienced team in hurling bar maybe Tipp.

Hard to argue with his track record though.

True. If it happened I'd be very interested to see would he play with a sweeper with a team that doesn't need one or has been successful without one. Anyone have anything concrete on this?

The teams he had all needed to climb the hill. We have lads that have reached the summit and need decent direction and resources to get back there. Davy takes away from those potential resources

    Not necessarily.

Has a track record of managing strong colleges teams too. Canning and a number of the players would have played under him.

Would be very interesting if the players were behind him.

    HT: Galway 1-8 0-4 Westmeath
    FT : Galway 1-9 1-11 Westmeath

That has to be up there as one of the worst statistical/factual losses of all time.
You're hammering a team at HT in a final and are basically held scoreless in the second half. The sole point being a last gasp free that was too high.

wow, total collapse in the second half.
No wides and just one point in the second half.

What is it with galway and second half collapses

It seemed like playing the sweeper in the second half (when well ahead) didn't suit Galway at all. It left their half back line with extra time and space to deliver the ball into their full forward

Bluntly speaking, if Galway had managed a goal from the free at the end, it would have been an injustice. Westmeath by far in a way the better team in the second half.

I said the same after the minors last week. We've had loads at different grades and codes. We even let a big lead nearly slip against Waterford in 2017

Thought the opposite to be honest. Booked our full back for charging yet let kk away with it in their fb line 3 times. Frees keeping kk in it.

There's plenty of goals to be had in that Kilkenny full back line.

Thought Sarah dervan was unlucky to get her yellow card for that "challenge". In fact, she should have got a yellow for her tackle on the Kilkenny forward a few minutes later.

Niamh Kilkenny is playing well at midfield as is niamh hanniffy and Eilish O'Reilly in the full forward line.

Ref is fairly dramatic. He'd be a fair man on the dance floor when stayin alive is played.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭threeball

We'll need a goal to but this to bed. I could see Kk getting a run of scores.

That was a terrible miss from the free but how did the KK player get away with being so close... poor referring and naive on the part of the players to not highlight it.
She was trying to get it over her in the end and while she should have got it either way the players presence affected it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,149 ✭✭✭threeball

Niamh Kilkenny is a fantastic hurler. Consistent for years too.

Even Joe misses the odd one. She was flawless up to that.

Looked like Kilkenny were coming strong but ye steadied the ship again, holding them acoreless for the last 10 min. Little debate about the best team this year when you win league and All Ireland.

Great win for Galway - niamh Kilkenny player of the match imo

Corofin Vs MountBellew is a tasty quarter final

Corofin Vs MountBellew is a tasty quarter final

Be a better match in the quarters than the county final anyway. MM tend to go all negative when they meet Corofin in finals.
Are the other pairings decided yet?
