I wouldnt be surprised if the series has nearly run its course. The winners are hit and miss whether they are successfull after the show so that is not a factor for sugar being in it.

Well Sirralan had an ad seeking 2019 candidates at the end of last nights program so it is going for one more year at least.

It has gone a bit stale from its heydays though Ive been saying that for a few years now yet still I always watch it :o

I don't think the format is stale at all, simply the contestants after series 11 onwards (barring Alana's year) haven't been very good.

Also viewing figures are still holding steady at around the 7 million mark.

Having professional people doing professional things on TV isn't entertaining.

But it looks like Sir Sugar is picking CVs over performances. I like Tom but he has never done anything impressive though he comes across quite nice on the show. He should have gone.

Defintely something in that, the quality of candidates has been on the slide for some years now.

Well being honest, in this world of venture capital, crowd funding etc there is no need to go on a show like that and be reduced to the menial tasks that they get reduced to in the name of TV, on the absolute off chance that you might get some of Alan Sugar's money.
And then there's Karen "no matter what you do its wrong" who managed to get West Ham to leave a great stadium to play their football in the worst stadium in England. Far more costly mistake than any candidate has ever made!

They're going to the ****ing cinema for their treat!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭artvanderlay

Nice team won! Sarah Ann, Daniel and Sabrina are nice, likeable people: i hope one of them wins. The others are dumb or nasty or Jackie!
    ..
****, Tom gone straight away. Shocking!!!

    WTF Jackie gone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,741 ✭✭✭Mousewar

Really not sure what the point of the tasks is anymore. They have no impact on the firings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭artvanderlay

Jackie's gone. I'm done! Utter bull****. Fcuk you Sugar!

Yeah I got that. Didn't think you could make lemonade out of beetroots. Sounds disgusting anyway.

Sugar would have known their businesses before this, the decision was personal not business in my opinion, maybe he felt she was already established & maybe too highly strung.

Crazy decision if purely business related

Khadija is so useless, she lost that task but some how Jackie gets fired?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,544 Mod ✭✭✭✭yerwanthere123

I feel sorry for Khadija, I think this "aggressiveness" thing has been completely overstated. She was a bit full on the first two or three weeks but she's been fine since, bit unfair for her still to be labelled as such and I felt bad for her.

She reminds me of one of those unhinged Eastenders actresses. It was a real low blow to Jackie that she lost to her and useless Camilla. Nasty people...cant wait for them to be torn to shreds in the interviews. I hope Daniel wins...he's got a sense of humour at least. Sabrina second...she's a nice kid. They are the only two with a bit of class. **** the rest!

Meanwhile, Camilla 22?! I'd have said closer to 32 than 22.

Beetroot is a very nice root vegetable, fresh from the ground and boiled it is lovely. In a jar with vinegar as a preservant it is harder to eat.

Jackie totally threw Tom under a bus tonight by nominating him as PM, she knew if they lost that he was a goner. I don’t like to see people being corralled into being PM when they may not be suited to the task. And she did similar to Jasmine on a previous task.

That said, she was the strongest candidate, the final 6 are absolutely hopeless. The interview episode is going to be carnage!

Yep, it was patently obvious from the get go.

Interested to hear the business plans now. Is it just one more task before the interviews?

  • Registered Users Posts: 436 ✭✭incentsitive

You'd have to feel hard done by after 10 weeks of nonsense tasks to be told you are too successful!!! But she's a cold back stabbing b.
I think Daniel is going to win now, he has a personality and can sell. The rest are useless.
Camilla is not a good advertisement for botox and whatever other chisels have been at her!
    I can't believe Tom didn't get a taxi?
But sure the whole thing is a sham anyway.

Jackie got herself fired with her impromptu speech about how great she is. Good riddance.

Sugar was afraid of Jackie. Too dominant for him.

Ha ha. Not even the cinema. They are drinking in the park with headphones on....Surely the worst treat ever.

Was surprised that Jackie got the boot over the other two but think it was because Sugar really didnt like her manipulative streak and didnt want that kind of character as a business partner.

My favourite part of the episode was when Tom was live on tv trying to sell the teeth whitening and Jackie was shouting down his earpiece "Put it in your mouth, put it in your mouth"

Would have been the perfect task for the Pogba lookalike guy

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,134 ✭✭✭jimwallace197

I think last nights show showed its not really about the best candidate, its more about whether or sugar likes you and thinks he could trust you in the future.

Karen Brady no doubt had his ear also & informed of him of when Jackie pushed Tom to be leader which was a very tactical & depending on way you look at it, either shrewd or sneaky move.

They win the task, everybody stays, they lose and toms the one that is going home.

From what I've seen, Americans play game shows totally different, being tactical is seen as a positive while on our side of the Atlantic its seen as sly and cunning.

The TV selling episode on Wed reminded me of one from years ago. I couldn't remember the specifics, but I googled it, and found this comedy gold!

We were watching it thinking the same. She set him up , but inadvertently set herself up. Although I didn't think he'd sack her.

Jackie wanted to be PM, Tom then said he did and the team clearly wanted Tom over Jackie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,164 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Really surprised Jackie got the boot but delighted as she was getting too sure of herself and sly tactics of pushing others into PM knowing full well the task didn't suit them.

Cup of tea for the treat this week!

A disaster for Camilla and co.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭artvanderlay

Can't stand Camilla. Mind you they are all crap now. Sugar obviously doesn't like strong, capable, intelligent women like Jackie and Jasmine, so he keeps the morons and the immature ones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Under His Eye

    Right decision this week.

Can't believe Camilla's safe again! She's been consistently weak throughout the entire series and tonight was the icing on the cake...she still bloody stayed. Ugh!!

I reckon at this stage, the strongest final two would be Sian and Kadija, but it'll probably end up being bloody nut milk Camilla and cloud of doom Sabrina

I know it's very easy to criticise the contestants, but I feel a lot of the time the criticism is unfair. In general, the do the best they can with their limited time and resources. There's no defending Daniel and Camilla's efforts tonight though, that packaging and name was obviously so seedy and wildly inappropriate that they deserve all they get.
