    I got the same email

I took it to mean that despite being inside the top number, that there were no positions in my chosen area and that's why i wasn't called to interview. But maybe I would get called in the new year

Dont think everyone got that email with results anyway. I certainly didnt at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 242 ✭✭audrey2014

Did that email only issue today? My chosen counties I think we're Limerick cork Tipp but open to correction!

What were the test results/ratings for? Like what stage.

    When did the email issue?

I rang to clarify as I was placed within the 129 too. They have effectively called to 82. If 3 people got #1 the next number is #2 not #4. It doesn't make sense, but there you go...

Yeah it's quite unclear, because there's no way to know how many people are ranked on each score. So if I'm ranked #127, I could effectively be the 254th person on the list when you include multiple same-score candidates.

It would help if they told you "there are 253 people ranked higher than you on this list" to give a bit more clarity.

Ah I see, thanks for ending the confusion!! Until next year so...

I'm on the verge of a breakdown now. If the phone rings once more time I'm going to hurl it out the window. It'll make a satisfactory noise when it hits the pavement from 5 floors up. I've one more competency to do and I don't know where to start. I know what I want to say but my brain is not functioning

    It's painful, isn't it.

I think anyone who can get these forms completed deserves the job on that basis alone!

To be fair, I'd say 80% of that frustration is from.the leadership potential competency...

Well got it in. Finally. God I'm exhausted!

It's done. Rewriting an entire competency at 12.25 was either genius or imbecilic, time will tell. I will forget all about it now, until the panic starts again in January.

So who am i up against? Accountants? Auditors? Serving civil servants with a wealth of management experience?

I am from private sector trying for the Data Science stream. Had the interview for the ICT stream last week, it was a thorough workout, they come at you from all the angles. That experience will hopefully help here!

Just got my interview date. 15th January.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭Mac0783

Are you morning or afternoon? No email in yet. Does it say anything about e-tray or presentation or is it just an interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭Mac0783

Monday 21st. Any idea where Ship street gate is? I googled it there and it's Dublin castle, but which entrance or building i have no idea. Well that's definitely not going to help my stress levels on the day.

Pass out the Olympia and keep going a couple blocks. Enter Dublin Castle from that street and pass out the stamping building it'll be on your left keep going, turn right and then it's a small entrance after the one for the Chester Beatty library

Is there anyone here whos been through one of these competitions before? Just wondering, could anyone clarify the differences between the four panels?

I went through the ICT competition interview and got placed in the panel. I have an interview for this competition on Jan 25 (in Data Science/Statistics/Economics stream). The ICT interview was strictly competency based and there was also a presentation followed by Q&A on that. Since there is no presentation in this interview, it might be a bit less stressful! They do ask probing questions on your examples and it might help if you have additional examples. Practice is the key. I am from Cork and practiced with rdinterviews@gmail.com and I would highly recommend him. I am from private sector all my life and this was all completely foreign to me.

Is there anyone here who's currently working as an AO in Revenue? I've heard that in a lot of departments AOs more or less serve as badly paid HEOs, and I'm curious if this is the case with Revenue as well.

I'm not, but my friend is. Revenue goes their own way in a lot of things. From what I've heard from her, she's treated very well. Lots of specialised work, options for career development and training (they want people to get qualifications in the area and will pay for them), and she was once given a commendation and small cash bonus by her boss.

Revenue really are excellent to work for in the grand scheme of things. Some AOs serve as HEOs in my building, but are treated properly. AOs generally don't have staff.

Out of curiosity, why, after all the work you've put in getting tutoring for the interview?

Does anyone know what proportion of the roles are exclusively audit oriented? The job spec is a lot more broad than the Rev EO, not to mention the four panels that are being established as part of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 354 ✭✭Wonderstruck

Hey does anyone have the information booklet, I see it was taken off the Revenue website.

Well, just out. Done and dusted. Hard to know how it went. Board were nice and made me feel comfortable. Questions were probing. Answered everything as best I could. Now the wait to find out the results! Best of luck to those who are yet to be interviewed.

It must be a great relief to have it over and done with, i'm still working on mine. Any out of the ordinary questions? Did you feel they focused on anything in particular?

Nothing really. Really focused on the leadership potential obviously as it's a management role. No weird questions. They didn't focus really on the audit role. Only how
I could apply skills as an AO.

Well that's good to know, i'm working on describing my "leadership skills" as we speak. Are you in Revenue, do you have staff?

Yes in revenue but have no staff as only a CO. I'm on an EO panel but no movement

I have been placed in the ICT panel and starting in Limerick.

If you don't mind me asking, what number were you placed (number) in the ICT panel ? or whereabouts ? Thanks.

The boards know nothing about the panel or the results. That I know for sure. Interviews are on til the 30th. They probably release results on the Friday depending on how quickly they want to fill positions. I'm not feeling confident 😥

Hi, I was placed at the top. In my initial application, I had put down both Dublin and Limerick as the option, and chose Limerick when they called. There is also another person starting with me on the same date in Limerick. Don't know how many they are placing in Dublin.

Thanks for reply, well done on being placed at the top. I'm abit down the list on the panel but I'm hoping to get a position in Limerick.

Do you know if any more are being placed in Limerick ? Or is it just the two of ye at the moment?

Also, did they explain to you what you'd be doing actually doing when starting or in the first few months? Development, training.. etc ? And do you have a CS degree yourself ?

Apologies for all the questions ! Its the first public sector job I've applied for so I'm trying to get a feel for the process etc ..

No worries. This the first public sector job for me too and I have been feeling my way forward :-) At the moment, it seems to be two starting Monday (HR suggested the date so that we can start together) in Limerick.

My interview for this competition (Audit and Compliance) was on 25th late evening, so had to go with the bird in hand and withdrew when HR phoned me about this competition.

I found the Revenue HR process (including the Garda e-vetting) very fast and efficient compared to what I have seen in private sector in many cases. Since I lived in other countries for more than 6 months, I already got vetting certificates from those countries as well just in case I got an offer.

They have not indicated what the duties are other than asking me to report. I have math degrees, not CS. In the interview I said I preferred a Technical Architect or Policy Advising role. Not sure what they have in store, but as others have indicated, Revenue seems to be a good place to work for in terms of various specialisations and opportunities.

Hope to meet you soon in Limerick when your turn comes :-)

    Hi all,

Just wondering how long is the interview itself?

Are they splitting the interview into 4 competencies or will specialist knowledge get its own slot?

I know drive and commitment will be examined throughout the interview.

Have my interview on the 24th. If anyone whos had theirs already has any pointers I'd greatly appreciate it.
