MCD are promoting and its supposedly sold out so in MCD's eyes there is no need for support.
The money is in the bank.

I've a friend swears blind he saw an official tweet saying it was a "Cure only show" but now can't find it of course

wouldn't be surprised. If they're doing 3hour-3 1/2 hr shows between a support act and the curfew there's probaly not a lot of time.

What time does Malahide finish at.. 10.30-10.45?

My tickets say The Cure and special guests.

The doors open at 4pm so even if they cure played for 3.5 hours that still leaves 4-7 with nothing on stage.

    Hopefully it'll be someone good

So... any thoughts on support acts?

I doubt we'll get it as good as the anniversary concert in Hyde Park, but one or two from that Interpol/Slowdive/Editors pool would be lovely.

Was at Hyde Park. Interpol were the best I've seen them in a long long long time. Still no where near Oxegen 04 levels. But hey, who is.

Highlight of Hyde Park were The Twilight Said. First time I got to see them since Whelan's in 2015. They're immense.

Bob is a big big fan of there's and they toured with them on the last big one a few years back. So I would wager that they'll be part of the lineup.

They're an incredible band. And they have no Irish dates lined up this year as is. So it could be a nice 2 birds with one stone sort of thing.

Roll on Paris in November :)

I saw them support The Cure in Lisbon in 2016 and thought they were very good. They were amazing in Hyde Park, hopefully they will be in Malahide??

They wont sell out Malahide, they can up the capacity to 35k
Correction-capacity is 20k now it seems. They held 35k for Prince back in 2011, but different layout now.

    :P

I'm going to Metallica, my wife is going to this. She doesn't know that yet though...I've bought the ticket for her for Christmas. I just have to find a child minder for the kids now!

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Ride, PJ Harvey, Pixies, Public Service Broadcasting, Therapy?, IDLES(x2)

Yes yes! Would be great. Got two tickets, had tickets for the Hyde Park gig but unfortunatley couldn't go and couldn't sell them either. So this is great that they are playing here.

Does anyone know the best place to look for resale tickets for this?

Adverts.ie is always worth a try too I think. Put an alert in for them and you might get lucky.

    Don't panic.
There'll be loads more tickets in the run up to the gig.
Check Adverts, and join Toutless if you haven't already also.

Sorry for stepping away from the thread subject momentarily - but has there really been any gig in recent years which has proper sold out, and where it was next to impossible to get a ticket for. With the birth of social media and toutless, there will nearly always be tickets available. The only one I can recall myself is when the National played in Vicar Street recently. And for Green Day in Kilmainham, there were very few spares available, even right up to the gig.
