Go to your nearest builders providers, not large hardware stores, and get pressure treated timber.:)

You won't get beams that big from a builders providers, in my experience.

Sawmill will do it, or go through a specialist.

I got mine from woodcomponents.ie who liased with the sawmill. Don't know what the mark up was, but I found their expertise invaluable.

I don't think I would copy that rope attachment to the beam though.
