    hey folks, I have a new build and am wondering what are the best options for alarm and cctv without paying crazy money?

    Well since it is a new build, best to get the house pre-wired for a security system. You can then get the actual system installed later.

    Wired is better then wireless if you have the option.

    Also you might want to run cat6 cables from a central location to places where you might put CCTV cameras. Such cameras can be powered by cat6 cable and the video carried back.

    As to which system, there are many, it depends completely on your budget and needs.

    All good advice from BK.
    Also look at a network connection from the panel to your router or switch.
    Separate cables for any entry door.
    Separate cable for each motion sensor (PiR)
    Separate cable for bells.
    Depending on the size of the house I would generally try for separate cables for each room after that. It allows you split the system up into more zones.
    Also consider if you want keypads in other locations around the house.
