20% off Google products today, direct from the Google store, in celebration of their 20th birthday. Might be useful if you've been eyeing something up.

    https://store.google.com/gb/

You will need to buy from the UK site, and use a mail forwarding service such as PM or PW.

The Irish store never has anything. Buy from the UK site and use PM.

Any difference between the Google mini and the echo dot? There's a new dot coming out on Oct 11th at £49.99. if the mini does the same job for £10 cheaper would I be better off with that one?

Really depends on which ecosystem you want to get into, Google or Amazon. I've had both, then got rid of Amazon devices in favour of Google ones, but that's just me.

I have both Chromecasts so might just stick with Google

If you have a Chromecast, definitely go with Google Home. Very handy.

Dot has 3.5mm audio out which is great if you have an older hifi.

Think I'll go with the Google mini so. Don't need the larger one. Thanks all.

I have a Chromecast Audio hooked up to mine, and a Google Home Mini. Works really well.

    Thanks OP

Have to laugh. Ordered a mini and had to use Parcel Motel

Confirmation email came through and it's ordered from...

    Google Commerce Ltd
    Gordon House, Barrow Street
    Dublin 4
    Ireland

Literally next door to where I work!

That's not the warehouse location though. Not as if you could just walk in and ask to pick one up. It's been like that for years.

This does show up how poxy it is that they base them selves in Ireland with thousands of staff and half of the Southside docklands bought up. But refuse to sell anything via their .ie domain

    Poxy

The google home is still dearer with this discount than their Black Friday price if i am recalling correctly

Yeah, Google Home has been on sale for £79 and the mini for £35.

Prices today work out at £103 and £40. Not as good as in the past, but still a saving if people were already thinking of buying.

That's a very good price. I'm after the coral coloured one though. Wonder will Google price match?

The Chromecast Audio must not have received the birthday party invite.

Was on to Google live chat and they won't price match :(

They were €44 in Currys a few weeks ago, I know still slightly dearer but might come down again.

Exact same when I bought mine.....Yeah I get they're not shipped from D4, just invoiced from D4, good enough to send bills from, yet not sell direct to.

    frustrating alright.

I’ve had both definitely echo dot for me. I find that the microphones on echo dot pick up sound much better than google mini. If volume is high it difficult for google mini to hear anything

I found that comparing the two also - the dot is much better at hearing when you are talking to it.

On the other hand the mini home is a far superior speaker if you are going to listen to music with either.

If Alexa's worked with Google play music, then I'd be getting them. Looks like there might be new speakers announced next month

    Hi,
This post got my interest as I was considering installing a Mesh WiFi and the Google system is probably, imo, the best.
But price on Google was £329 (about €400). Cheaper on Amazon by a few € but delivery would be at least a month (so much for Prime).
Today I got them for €259, with free shipping.......
    https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/google-wifi-system-3-pack-router-replacement-for-whole-home-coverage.html

That €140 is much better in my pocket so makes it worthwhile to shop around..

I think Google have enough information without taking over your full home network.
