Hopefully somebody can clarify this for me, my car broke down on the way hone and I'm half way between home and Dublin.
If I ring for roadside assistance I'll need a tow as it cannot be repaired attge roadside.
My documents state I can be towed to a competent repair centre or to a garage of my choice. Whichever is nearer.
I don't know any where I'm broke down and want to get it to my local mechanic at hone. Is there an option to pay for additional towing or how does that work?

I don't want to be towed to a BMW dealer for example where I know I'll be ripped off just because it's closer.

    Hi Alan b.
If you contact our Breakdown Assistance number 1800 70 60 80 they will refer your query to one of their recovery providers. They should be able to provide you with a quotation to tow your vehicle to your local mechanic.
    Thanks
    Una
