Didn't see a thread, thought I'd get one going as it's already Thursday, it's a little lacking detail and I don't live in Ireland so not sure what's on Sky or what time games kick off over there (I'm sure I could find out, but then again, so could you).

Updated OP with the Sky games. Pretty uninspiring slate of games this week. Best one is probably tonight.

Goff has been sensational. Perfect passer rating, loads of long throws, 5 TDs and nearly 500 yards.

Vikings been great too. Just 2 offences that showed up and lots of big, long plays too. Difference is that the Rams can run the ball when they need to, Vikes haven't done much on the ground.

That happy feeling when you have kupp and woods starting on your fantasy team

Rams really look incredible. Would love to see them face off against the Chiefs soon. Let's just hope they're both still firing in November.

Missed it but Goff really looks he's got future MVP written on him, it's absolutely amazing how quick and how huge his turnaround was once McVay came in for Fischer. I know it's only early days but the guy's passer rating through 4 games is 127.3 with 72% completion, 10.5 per attempt and he's on pace for over 5,600 yards. It's no fluke either after last year, he's justifying that huge trade up they made for him at a remarkable pace.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,161 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

I'd hold fire on the gushing praise to be honest. Once Goff gets his next contract he'll have to play on a more level playing field. I think a large part of how he looks now is based on being able to bring in all these pieces around him but they won't be able to keep them after next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,964 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Are we still on board with the idea that the Vikings are the dominant defensive team in the league? They've given up a lot of points the last two weeks, many of them to the Buffalo bills, and they conceded a lot to a one legged Rodgers as well. Rams are probably the best offense in the league, but if you're heralded as the best defense in the league you shouldn't cough up 38 points surely? Rams running game seemed to be taking advantage of huge holes in the fourth.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,161 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

Yeah, they are struggling at present. I think they'll figure things out but the Rams have a better offense and a better defense than them now.

I would have thought the Jags were the top defense by most accounts, though it is true that the vikings have taken a bit of a hit early as they were in the top 3 or 4 easily over recent years. Still plenty of time to recover though.

As for Goff, I don't think he is overly spoiled. Yes Gurley is an absolute star and Cooks is top quality as well. But last year he had Watkins s in Cooks' place who is dangerous but also very inconsistent and lacks a bit on fundamentals imo. Then there is Kupp who has come on great but was still just a 3rd round rookie last year, Woods who is a very solid #2 but not really much more, a TE who was a 4th round rookie last year and another who was taken in the 2nd just before that amd neither of whom are really star players. He's got good talent around him, but he's not really much more spoiled than most top QBs in that sense, the rams spending on the savings of his and Gurley's contracts have mainly been on defense.

That said, Goff is pretty much the walking proof that American football is a team game and not "qb + 52 others" as some like to build up... this same guy as a rookie looked quite remarkably like Jimmy Clausen!

I'd say he has an elite Offensive Line , A great running game, an top quality receiver and plenty of pieces around that. The defense is also very good. He couldn't be in a better situation really.

He could in terms of pass catchers, what he has is good but here is a reason nobody broke 7 catcheap of 1000 yards for them last season, and spreading it around and looking through all his reads has been where Goff might be excelling most. His line has been pretty solid alright but I don't know about elite. Last year they were 15th for pass blocking efficiency - https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-offensive-lines-by-pass-blocking-efficiency

Throwing it out there... The browns defence is playing some good stuff. Able to keep sealers and saints under wraps for the most part

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-week-3-nfl-offensive-line-rankings

    Starting Lineup:

    Left Tackle: Andrew Whitworth, 82.5
    Left Guard: Rodger Saffold, 78.7
    Center: John Sullivan, 62.4
    Right Guard: Austin Blythe, 83.1
    Right Tackle: Rob Havenstein, 79.8

There’s no debate, here. The Rams’ offensive line has been a tour de force through the first three weeks of the season. They have been the highest-graded run blocking line and the highest graded pass-blocking line through three weeks. This past week against the Chargers, they somehow allowed only three pressures on 38 pass-block snaps.

This year yes, mine was in reference over both seasons, where PFF had them 15th last year for pass blocking with Goff playing good enough for outsider MVP contention - https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-offensive-lines-by-pass-blocking-efficiency

Seems like the TNF game last night in Los Angeles was a bit of a belter. I'll watch at some point before Sunday but nice to see a good game of ball on night when they haven't always been that great.

This should have been the SNF game. Ravens vs Steelers could be awful.

This was the first TNF game on Fox under their new deal, couldn't have had a better game for it, ratings were up compared to last year.

I'll be watching Da Bears. The NFC North is there for the taking with Rodgers not 100% and the Viking's recent struggles. This needs to be a win.

My god, gamepass working at 6pm properly for the first time this season! Huzzah

What’s wrong with a low scoring AFC North defensive battle? I’m looking forward to it

I agree with Daryl Johnson. The blocks in the back on returns are the most stupid penalties.

Not so much eating for breakfast on that last drive though. But expect to see Winston in.
