my bathroom tub has been glugging a lot lately, is there any way to solve this before having to call the plumber out?

Check the trap under the outlet isn't blocked and that the soil vent pipe is clear.

Try cleaning it out. Give it a good poke with some timber stir sticks to loosen up any solids, then a bottle of drain cleaner (some people swear by vinegar), rinse it and then flush it with a kettle of boiling water.

Possibly a sagging waste pipe due to not being bracketed or no support underneath.
