Looking to buy a bike. I have max 250 euro for the bike without helmet lights lock etc.

I'll be commuting 4km each way to college and then 6 km to work 3 days a week (sometimes separate days).

    Is this an OK bike?

As long as you're not particularly tall it'll do but really a budget like that will only get you something rudimentary.

You'll get something much better second hand with that budget.

I'm 5 foot 2. What would I be looking for second hand if I could cos I've no clue.

Your best bet I'd say is to go into a second hand bike shop/ bike repair shop. They should have a wide enough selection. Check out 3 or 4 shops like that, they may only have one of two in each to fit you, and choose the one you like best. You don't need a racer or anything specialised for a shortish commute like that so if it's comfortable and the shop is ok it should be fine. Make sure you try the bike out for a good 10-15 mins before you spend anything. The shop should give you a good bike for around 200 - they sell ones from 80 up don't accept one your not happy with - so you'll have some left for a lock, etc. You can also bargain them down, Get them to throw in mudguards or a carrier if needed. A slightly old, not-shiny bike is also less likely to get nicked remember ;)

If you're near Dublin at all go in and have a chat with Anne.

Phoenix Park bike hire seem to be having a sale on new and used bikes - new bikes seem really cheap but you'd wonder about quality. Better quality 2nd hand lapierres going for 250 upwards i think. They're good at responding to enquiries
