I was only going to go for Chance. Happy now to avoid it and give up the ticket hunt.

Any reason for Chance pulling out? I can't see a reason online.

No reason. Has pulled a few other european gigs, but not all. Seems like it was planned a while back as other festivals have announced his replacements this morning too.

He's still in for Love Box in London which is the weekend after longitude. Odd.

Teenage daughter and a couple of her friends are heading to Longitude next weekend. We live in Dublin 3 and have no problem dropping them off in the mornings but how do we get them safely home (or at least to the city centre) without collecting them?

ASAP Rocky has been arrested in Europe over an assault.

Thats potentially 2 headliners down. Cardi B will be diagnosed with gigantism and Future will be fired because he didnt shave his non-existant sideburns.

    coach to custom house quay?

    https://www.longitude.ie/information/marathon-city-shuttle

be much easier for them to get out there in the morning themselves and much harder for them to get home in the eve. There is no extra public transport being put on.

Yeah, found that one and booked it for one of the days, thanks. Think she's sorted the other two days. Can't believe there's no extra public transport - especially at night. It's like neither the organisers or Dublin Bus/Luas don't care!

Dublin Bus have alot of there fleet going into the city Center after the last act from the bus park, Its on the left on the way out im sure. For separate concerts there you have to go to Grange road for the buses....And good length of buses also at both places.

Edit: Seen this on there website
Please note Dublin Bus will only be operating their normal scheduled service and will not be running additional services for these concerts. The promoter strongly recommends you plan alternative means of transport to and from the event.

Thats mad ain't it! Always found dublin bus far handier to get away from the event before....

Stormzy replaced him. Who will Dublin get if he pulls out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 238 ✭✭wacotaco

Travis Scott playing Wireless on Saturday... He'd be the obvious replacement if ASAP pulled. Would be his 2nd year in a row but doubt there would be many complaints after his album success.

Must have been a reason for it.

Must they? The gardai have said there hasnt been any alerts, warnings etc given to them and they dont expect it. Realistically, nothing will happen, which just makes it look like the most bizarre and self-immolating type of racial profiling ever to take place.

  • Registered Users Posts: 909 ✭✭✭keithkk16

A group of people in the US trying to stir the pop here in Ireland more than likely. Gardai have nothing to do with it and are flat out posting on twiitter how good the festival is going and how well behaved everyone is https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-ujCANXYAIy9em.png:large

An attack will happen at a festival at some point, it's just to easy to get weapons in and the casualty rate would be massive, I'd say it will be at some iconic event like Glastonbury but maybe Ireland would be a target with the low security involved. We had the Manchester bombing outside but I think a couple of people inside with explosives and guns will happen

Have you been to an Irish festival recently? We have some of best organised festivals going here.

I agree with you both. We have very good organised festivals, but it's also very easy to sneak things in!

Maybe drugs yeah, but who hasn't. You can't even bring a backpack to a festival in dublin anymore so it would be pretty hard to get a gun in unless you worked at the event. Getting into Longitude is like going through airport security and that was 3 years ago the last time I was at it.

Up to 20 men involved in suspected planned attack after Dublin music festival
Nightclub security guard injured as knives, hatchets, petrol bombs seized

Gardaí are investigating a significant fracas involving up to 20 men who tried to rush the door of a popular Dublin nightspot after the Longitude festival on Saturday.

An assortment of weapons including hatchets, knives and petrol bombs were found when the gang dispersed.

The incident occurred outside the Lost Lane venue, formerly Lillies Bordello, off Grafton Street in the south inner city after shortly 1am on Sunday.

A security guard working in the area was injured and one man was arrested. However, gardaí believe significant violence was averted by the arrival of members of the force on the scene immediately as the trouble flared.

The group gathered outside the venue and tried to gain entry before being refused and then attempted to rush the door.

Those involved dispersed when they realised gardaí were responding. However, some of the men were stopped and searched in the streets close to the venue.

Lost Lane, which is down the Adam Court laneway off Grafton Street, was sealed off on Sunday as gardaí carried out a forensic examination.

A large number of weapons were also being forensically examined and CCTV recorded in the area was being reviewed as part of the investigation, which is being carried out by a large team of gardaí.

Efforts to contact a representative of Lost Lane for comment on Sunday were not successful.

The Garda confirmed it was investigating the incident which began when “a large number of male youths congregated outside a premises on Adam Court, Dublin 2” at about 1am.

“A number of offensive weapons were located after the youths departed and were seized by gardaí. One male in his early 20s was arrested and was charged in relation to this offence. Investigations are ongoing”.

None of the patrons of Lost Lane nor anybody else on the premises on Saturday night into Sunday morning was in any way involved in what took place outside.

However, gardaí believe a number of people who were at Longitude festival in Marlay Park, Rathfarham had gone to Lost Lane to continue socialising. Gardaí further suspect the men who tried to rush the door of the venue had also been at the festival.

Gardaí are treating the serious fracas as a spill over incident from Longitude. If the weapons found stashed around the Grafton Street area were linked to the men who tried to rush the door at Lost Lane, gardaí say that would confirm their suspicions the attempted gang attack was pre-planned.

Before the three-day Longitude festival began last Friday, the US Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs tweeted a security alert about the event aimed at US citizens in Ireland.

“Reports indicate a potential for violence at the Longitude Festival taking place from July 5-7 in Marlay Park,” it said.

“Police have increased event security and are monitoring the situation. Be aware of your surroundings and exercise caution if in the area.”
