To be honest I’m glad they are not portraying the lockdown anymore. It’s bad enough in real life , want to forget about it when I watch the soaps.

I agree, it's particularly noticable in EastEnders and it's quite a relief.

That’s a good point. I remember when they returned they were brutal!

Wednesdays episode; thought Tommy & Dearbhla were gone to AUnty Kittys already no? What's meant by him changing his plans once already (Orla said it)?

Carol & Nora; Nora blurts out to Carol about Doug & Erica; says she's sworn to secrecy? Sure who told her? Tell nobody in that place anything cos nobody can keep theirs shut it seems?

Louis Louie needing help according to Norah? He's not exactly being portrayed as n addict like.....

Jack"falls" but Uncle Louis catches him; worst assumed scene in FC in a while to be fair.....

As for Carol letting him say goodbye to Jack? He's hardly been there beyond 2-3 days like......

Hayley leaving a chunk of change of a watch under a tree in a public park? Aye, like it won't be nicked before the gifts are donated.....

And yeah, Dolores & Pete heading off in an RV in December......?

Dearbhla has hardly been much of a step-sister to Junior up to now like?

Christmas Day gathering will be strange with Doug & no Erica? Doesn't make sense to have her away with her Mam after them not exactly being on best terms in the episode or two they featured in like? Tommy & Junior & Orla....Sash & Olivia will probably end up there too & Dearbhla also.....Tommy will want to rekindle things with Wayne away perhaps? If Orla finds out about Wayne she'll need a shoulder to cry on in coming episodes; the preview where it appears she's Waynes masseuse is a fair crap one like?

Doug in the Santa suit? With the glasses? Don't do that again ever please Fair City.

Doug jumping out of the way of the webcam on laptop was funny though; my cat does that if there's citrus fruit or citrus fruit skin like an orange or lemon near him; that's all I could compare it to!

Not very exciting so far for a Christmas Day episode.

Copper Steve has it bad, gets knocked back by one ex and now he is after Haley.

I was wondering too. Presume it’s the priest from the storyline that was dropped over the first lockdown when they were off air?

Opening the Christmas presents outside as a new tradition? I get the FC writers've to think outside of the box due to the actors not being actual family but that was.....novel? Grim?

But Lees attempt at the Aussie "lingo" much less accent was funny in fairness ha ha!

Sam Atwell; I thought the beard was fake......

    Hungry Pig open? Christmas Day?

Louis Louie doing Charades? I hadn't a balls myself who or what it was supposed be...

Again, maybe cos of where I live but a Spar Shop opening on a Christmas Day? I get commercialism etc. but also Tommy & Dearbhla only deciding what to bring round ahead of the din-dins at Orlas?

Doug the dumb p***k revealing secret after secret.......as for Dearbhla wanting to hug him but can't......but then going to be sharing Christmas Day Dinner/Lunch with him & having palled around previously to persuade Orla etc......?

Yates doesn't hang around; on the rebound from Hayley to an ex; fair play Boss!

Dearbhla being her usual f*****g woke & then party pooper/miserable self re the Wayne situation, the head of the household quip etc.

But still she's gonna bring it dontcha know when this all kicks off.....

So the BBQ Man is 11am-3 O'Clock & then 4 til 11? On Christmas Day? He is aye.......then Ger & Anto in the park & it dark af & piddling it down within a matter of minutes in reality?

Carol has options; Yates, (Fr.) Liam & Louis Louie.....is that yer man from Killinaskully? The German guy? Owns/Runs a Theatre/Drama Group I think?

I do like the Louis Loiue character; FC writers've given him some good lines in fairness but whomever the actor is has inevtiably used poetic licence too.

Doug as Santy though? Looks very strange; didn't recognise him as Doug til tonights episode when he puts head round corner while Orla's on the phone to Wayne.

Robbing an office supplies place though? Hard to fence them in fairness.....

Really hoping that's not the last of Louis we see? Yates being kept on by Caddle is a strange one after the line she said to him.

And the BBQ moves from Collins to the Park on Christmas Day Night.

Santy/Doug letting cat out of the bag re Junior being Tommys Son.......and him hearing it.

Liam ringing Carol; she discussing having 2 men trying to chat her up to...a Priest?

Final scene was decent enough; I enjoy an Uileann Piper/Bag Pipe Player & Silent Night that way was a nice touch; they then had to add in cheesy, cliched emotive faces from various members of the cast incl. a pensive Yates face to set it all off.......

Amount of times in tonights episode that poetic licence was used & the viewer had to suspend belief & logic was quite high to be fair.....

You would have needed to be drunk to sit through the bs that passed for a Christmas Day episode last night.

Was the Australian lad Shane from Home and Away.

Turned it off after the Copper lad said to Hayley I didn’t think you were the tinsel type.

    Its proper dung.

Only Fair City could cast an Aussie actor as an Aussie character and still somehow make it ridiculous.

Aussies watching that would probably feel like Irish people do watching the trailers for that new Wild Mountain Thyme movie with the awful Irish accents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,700 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Watched FC for the first time in a long while just because it was Christmas but god it was awful sh1te. I like my Xmas day specials to have a good murder or a gas explosion in a pub

Seems like there's no plauge in Faircity, they can all mingle, travel and invite anyone into their homes for Christmas dinners.

There is a plague...of bad scripts

Shane and Angel Shane. Thats him isnt it?

The lad that was in Fair City last night played a character called Kane Phillips in Home and Away, not Shane. That Shane was a Home and Away character about ten years previous to Kane.

What a mess of a storyline. As soon as she finds out she's pregnant the whole town knows. If you can't trust those around you with such personal, intimate news..

And then the poor girl miscarries at 8 weeks. I'm sure a miscarriage is difficult enough without having to face all your neighbours about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,157 ✭✭✭Immortal Starlight

Sharon is overreacting about Wayne being away. It's like as if he'd died and Orla is a tiny child that can't cope. She's a grown woman for god sake. Orla is such an ungrateful cow to Sharon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,137 ✭✭✭CollyFlower

I was also thinking that, and arranging a party for her!... WTF

    Sunday nights episode

Ericas "I've just spend 9 Months inside....Is that supposed to be funny?....Well it's going straight to the Helping Hand"......stockists around Ireland of said babygro're suddenly delisting the item at an enormous rate!

Loving Sashs style; she debuted it in the Christmas Day episode

Sharon? Buddies with Wayrla? Not even remotely & she's away to organise a party in McCoys with music too like? No Covid restrictions or regulations in Sharons Utopia clearly....

The Wayne in Germany thing is wearing quite thin; is it for real?

Same scene Ger legit puts on the "It's a good job we double checked; isn't it....Shaden" ha ha!

Doug freaking out, kind of understandably, perhaps cos he's still a bit insecure, about Erica telling Darragh was a good scene.

Cass going on a solo run with his "PR" stunt for the Pig; who're Carrigstown Raiders? The 5 a Side Team I guess?

Good to see Doug & Darragh having a chat; I get the garage working situation of a Sunday though the Community Centre being open on a Sunday? More suspending belief reqd.

Final scene with Doug, Erica & Bronagh was well done if a bit rushed; hoping Fair City explore this situation properly in coming episodes; it's what Public Service Broadcasting's all about & Soaps often carry out this remit.

Only caught the end of last night’s episode. Poor Erica and Doug. They showed a preview for the next episode and Doug was saying “I think we should go again”. I know he’s upset but if I was Erica I’d want to clobber him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,101 ✭✭✭Max Headroom

Ahh poor Erica..she played the part well...

Uncle Fester needs to get off her case....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭threetrees

Poor Erica, I knew that was coming alright. I think this story will play on, she's going to be distraught, she's only just gotten used to the idea then it's taken away from her.

I think this will send Erica back to Darragh.

Loved Ger calling Sharon "Shar-den", just brilliant.

    It looks like Hayley's flat.

Doug is a disaster. Mouth of the South as we say in Cork.
