    Beard looks good on jackpot

Fcuk me when MVG hits the turbo he’s just unplayable.

How can you hit back to back 11 darters when you’re in danger of going 2-2.

    Nope it is...:)

Jackpot needed to win that set. Mvg still sloppy enough but not as sloppy as the chasing pack that's the difference.

Crowd have turned badly on MvG, booing his checkout darts.

Not surprising. He's a great talent but he's such an unlikable tool on the stage - the antics after every visit (the faces and shouting into the camera, the fist-pumping etc) mean I hate watching him. His whole demeanor changes when behind, and the above is magnified tenfold, making him appear even more arrogant and unlikable.

It’s a shame as he’s actually nothing like that. Fair play to Anderson again, showing a lot of bottle. Love to see Lewis do this!

Not condoning it but he gets lazy at times and it's his way of psyching himself up for a contest.

    Lewis played very well.
If only he could play like that every time he’d be back in the top 4 where he belongs.

108 average is close to unbeatable.
Would take Ando or Cross at their absolute peak to live with it.

    What was Anderson's average tonight?

We’ll call it 99. His best of the tournament so far!

98.75 ... 2.5 less than Lewis, the anti-climax guy

In fairness Lewis's average was helped about 5 points by MVG not giving him shots at average-reducing doubles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,407 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Hows the 180s bet. I think it's about 200 more needed with 13 games to go?
That looks ballpark where you'd need to be at this stage, maybe even ahead.

Must have been annoying the amount of times MVG opened 177 though.

Aye, that's a fair point and shows why averages aren't in themselves indicators of whether a game was entertaining/good/crap or not and shouldn't be used as such IMO.
I just wanted to defend Adrian Lewis cos it's great to see him back playing well again :)

Who said Lewis was the anti climax guy?

If you’re referring to my post I was referring to the match!

    TbL

    Anderson match was unreal!
Not sure hes playing well enough to beat mvg but it will be close

Dobey was 4 - 1 to win that game

Lewis is still miles off where he was
Mvg not really tested at all

It REALLY bothers me that they never ever mention this on TV.

They prefer to say "He raised his game when needed" or words to that effect. I think they prefer if averages are seen as fully "belong" to the player who got it.

Fact is if any of us here played MVG our averages would be significantly higher than our normal average as we would never get near shot at a double and so would spend our entire time in the scoring phase.

    Very true,

They also never mention the number of visits. A 13 dart leg is pretty good but no better than a 15 darter as you are closing the leg in the same visit. There is a world of difference though between a 12 darter and a 13 dart leg in terms of visits.

We're at 685 scored at 2.159 legs per 180, not helped by only 6 scored in two matches yesterday, but then again 28 in the Dobey v Anderson match was very welcome.

Date Played Sets Won Legs Won 180s Legs Per 180
    13-Dec Day 1 16 62 23 2.70
    14-Dec Day 2 31 128 63 2.03
    15-Dec Day 3 30 124 46 2.70
    16-Dec Day 4 29 110 48 2.29
    17-Dec Day 5 17 73 27 2.70
    18-Dec Day 6 30 123 49 2.51
    19-Dec Day 7 31 127 57 2.23
    20-Dec Day 8 32 153 72 2.13
    21-Dec Day 9 36 159 77 2.06
    22-Dec Day 10 28 129 70 1.84
    23-Dec Day 11 33 138 69 2.00
    27-Dec Day 12 35 153 84 1.82
    Total 348 1479 685 2.16

If all matches from here end up 3-0 legs and X - 0 Sets we have:
    • 63 sets left with 189 legs; returning a tournament total of 1668 legs, 423 Sets and 772 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

If all matches from here end up 3-2 legs and go the distance (excluding tie-breaks) we have:
    • 113 sets left with 565 legs; returning a tournament total of 2044 legs, 473 Sets and 947 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

Mid point of the extremes has us at:
    • 88 sets left with 377 legs; returning a tournament total of 1856 legs, 448 Sets and 860 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

Sportingindex are now middling the market at 888.0 (Buy 878; Sell 898).

Don't rate Peterson at all, but he's gonna cruise through here if Aspinall doesn;t get his act together

Oooh that Petersen miss on the treble 12 could be a turning point.

    QF and SF draw

    Sat 29th Dec Afternoon
    D Petersen vs Dolan/VDP
    J Lewis/D Chisnall vs G Anderson

    Sat 29th Dec Night
    Cross/Humphries vs Smith/Searle
    Joyce/Wade vs MVG

    Semis- Sunday 30th Dec
    1 vs 3
    2 vs 4

Who would of guessed some big names not been in the QFs at the start of the tournament

My guess at the final- M Smith vs MVG

Drama is right,is it his throw causing the outs?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,431 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

I wonder who would be favourite, Dolan or Petersen. Both unlikely semi-finalists I reckon

I wouldn't like to choose between them in a pie eating contest anyway.
