I'd expect Smith to get over the line and make and final but this championship has been so unpredictable and any of those 4 could get to the final

    Afternoon QFs
N Aspinall vs B Dolan- obv Massive game for both players as that have only ever dreamt of making this far and now here they are last 8 in the world championship. I'll go with Aspinall too win it

Dave Chisnall vs Gary Anderson- amazing the only so called 'Marquee' tie of the QF. Tough one too call and I'll give Gary Anderson too scrap it but Id be in no way shocked if chizzy wins it

    Night QFs

L Humphries vs M Smith- deff a tough one too call with both men impressing in the fourth round with Humphries coming back from the dead too knock out the reigning world champion. Smith too edge it

MVG vs R Joyce- Very impressive championship for Joyce but he has a tough QF against MVG who has been quite this championship but has shown some magic in his games. MVG for the win

This championship is so unpredictable and the final 4 could easily be Dolan/Chisnall/Humphries and Joyce

Humphries will beat Smith if he repeats tonight’s performance in my opinion.

Will be full of confidence after tonight. If he can beat Cross from 2 sets down he can beat Smith.

Dolan could bog Aspinall down and beat him with experience.

Ando is too good under pressure for Chizzy to beat him over 9 sets.

MVG will tonk Joyce with ridiculous ease.

Im approaching this with the betting cap on (Bet365 for Outright & QF Price ref.):

    MVG 4/6 - (1.04*1.25*1.16666) = 1.51666 (1/2) - 4/6 to back
    Anderson 7/2 - (1.363636*3.5*1.3333) = 6.36 (5/1) - 7/2 to back
    Smith 9/2 - (1.3*1.16666666*4.5) = 6.82 (11/2) - 9/2 to back (imho goes off 7/2 in a final v MVG).
    Chis-hawk 22/1 - (3.2*3.5*1.9090909) = 21.38 (20/1) - 22/1 to back
    Humphries 22/1 - (3.5*1.7272727*7) = 42.318 (40/1) - 22/1 to back
    Aspinall 33/1 - (1.6153*4.5*8) = 58.15 (50/1) - 33/1 to back
    Dolan 40/1 - (2.3*5.5*13) = 164.45 (150/1) - 40/1 to back
    Joyce 100/1 - (13*6*5) = 361 (350/1) - 100/1 to back

    _____________________________________________________________

For anyone still looking at 180's total:

Date Played Sets Won Legs Won 180s Legs Per 180
    13-Dec Day 1 16 62 23 2.70
    14-Dec Day 2 31 128 63 2.03
    15-Dec Day 3 30 124 46 2.70
    16-Dec Day 4 29 110 48 2.29
    17-Dec Day 5 17 73 27 2.70
    18-Dec Day 6 30 123 49 2.51
    19-Dec Day 7 31 127 57 2.23
    20-Dec Day 8 32 153 72 2.13
    21-Dec Day 9 36 159 77 2.06
    22-Dec Day 10 28 129 70 1.84
    23-Dec Day 11 33 138 69 2.00
    27-Dec Day 12 35 153 84 1.82
    28-Dec Day 13 34 143 67 2.13
    Total 382 1622 752 2.16

Not a great day, based on expectations.
    • If all matches from here end up 3-0 legs and X - 0 Sets we have:
39 sets left with 117 legs; returning a tournament total of 1739 legs, 421 Sets and 806 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

    • If all matches from here end up 3-2 legs and go the distance (excluding tie-breaks) we have:
71 sets left with 355 legs; returning a tournament total of 1977 legs, 453 Sets and 917 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

    • Mid point of the extremes has us at:
55 sets left with 236 legs; returning a tournament total of 1858 legs, 437 Sets and 861 180's at the current 180 per leg rate.

Sportingindex are now middling the market at 884.5 (Sell 877; Buy 892). Its so close to call at this point, but im hoping Chisnall/Anderson QF brings home the 180 bacon.

Is Russ Bray coming back or is he gone for the rest of the tourney? I'm getting sick of hearing Paul "game awwn" Hinks all the time.

Hear hear, his 180 is a load of bollix as well, as are the rest of them, nobody does it like Russ.

He seems like a bit of a tool too. Nothing to really base than on - just a couple of small things i've picked up on over the years.

Why wouldn't Russ Bray be back anyway?

Dolan is well out of sorts so far, needs to turn it around . Aspinall not playing particularly well either, but Dolan making it easy for him.

Shaky start by Dolan so far.

Been watching the tournament most of the time without being on here.

Feel like a tournament of change, with the exception of Anderson and MvG.
    The youngsters are a coming!

if either one can step up to their normal game they would be walking this. Both missing the treble bed by miles, straying into neighbouring beds.....feels more like a first round match than a world QF.

They gotta be nervous in fairness,as Webby said, playing for 50k minimum..these boys ain't millionaires.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Nice 122 checkout, best quality so far. They both doing slightly better, but absolutely no pressure on Aspinall. Don't think I've ever heard a crowd so quiet.

No matter what happens here the tournament has been a huge success for Dolan, but it will be a terrible way to sign off.

Winner of this is guaranteed £100k, right?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,276 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Aspinall playing lovely stuff.

Thought he might feel it a bit today. Not being put under any pressure but still killing it.

Dolan up to nothing today sadly

He's been doing his part the last two sets, but I don't think I can remember a game where one player constantly has 6 darts from 100ish to take leg after leg. Dolan not at the races at all.

Sad for Dolan getting beat like this but it was always likely if he got to the semi final.

He could have done with Petersen closing it out yesterday.

Have to say, it’s been a very underwhelming tournament so far. Dolan doesn’t belong anywhere near a 1/4 final. Unless the remaining games are absolutely epic, then it’s going to go down as the worst in a long time for me.

Come on, hopefully he can see out the set and give Aspinall pause for thought

Agreed, the seeds just didn't do the business on the day. Still the semis and final might make up for it yet.

At least it wasn’t a whitewash

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

That's one back.....still a huge ask, but if he can pull the next one out you never know!

Body language from Dolan was been terrible, but he has to know Aspinall is likely just as nervy if he can pull himself together.

A very dull tournament for most of it.

The loss of Taylor and with retirement close for Barney and Anderson. That's 3 all time greats gone within 3 years. Big shoes to fill.

What a pack of boring tables there today!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Nice way to close out. Can blame Aspinall, he did his part, but I doubt he will ever have thought it could be so straightforward.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,215 ✭✭✭marklazarcovic

    Well done aspinal

Nice touch from Dolan taking his opponents winning darts out of the board.
