You must not have seen the Smith game earlier.

    Calm down there now.

MVG is almost unplayable in this kind of form. Peak Taylor was also though.
    Taylor never scored like this

Can't see anything other than a 6-0 now

No if you actually followed the whole years events you'd know Smith never beats him

I'll not bother tuning in so.

You'd want to hurry up it will be over in 5 odd minutes once they come back on at this rate!

It might be a good thing for Smith that MvG is playing this well tonight, as I doubt he'll play quite to this standard in the final

The only way that trophy will be at smith's wedding is if MVG brings it.

    Taylor never scored like this

Taylor averaged over 105 countless times.

Michael is more explosive. Phil was more consistent leg on leg.

Pity we never got five years of them going head to head at their peak. I genuinely don’t know who would be better.

Such a let down. After the first set I didn't foresee this.

Phil would still beat most of them had he not retired.

Gary's not even playing too bad, Michael is just in one of those moods.

    This is it.

    Nobody beats MVG's best.

    Nobody.

People can talk about peak Taylor all they like. Yes, he had the mind games. Yes, he'd pull every trick possible.

But he doesn't beat a 109 average at over 60% on doubles over 6 sets.

Have anderson highest checkout, most 180s and to lose. Come on Gary, pressures off now. Few 180s in the last set pls

    Agreed

By the way, I'm not saying peak Taylor over 5 years doesn't win more tournaments than peak MVG over the same period.

I'm saying nobody's best one off game, even Taylor's, beats MVG's best game.

We've seen nothing like what MVG can do when he's specifically like this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

that's how to finish a game

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,395 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Unreal from Van Gerwen but poor from Anderson, didn’t put him under any pressure at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,755 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Typical that the match they've been building up since before the tournament fails to live up to the hype

Gary will take a break from the game now potentially.

That back is not right, but it wouldn't have mattered today anyway.
