Hi my father in law passed away recently and closed out his account with revised reading ,
we got a letter today adressed to representives of “his surname”
telling us that if the remaining ammount €100 is not paid within 5 working days it will be passed on to a third party debt collection agency ,

Is this the normal practice for dealing with the familys of people who pass away ?
    ,
this demand is now going to his solicitor who will deal with it along with the rest of the estate probate obligations ,
the letter by the way was dated the 5th and it arrived on the 10th

    Hi Tony,

We wish to extend our condolences.

This letter is automatically issued after a certain point to the representatives - we are sorry to read of your unhappiness with the wording.

Such correspondence is sent by Credit Control. They are the department with which the query is now. We recommend contacting them directly to advise them of the arrangement for the bill, so that they can note this on the account. They may also be able to change the correspondence address to that of the solicitor.

Credit Control's telephone number is on the correspondence issued - or their landline telephone numbers are 01 8035180 and 01 8035175.

    Best regards,
    Una
