Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Please advise my about fresh expresso beans.

I recently purchased my first aeropress, hand grinder.

A few weeks ago I purchased a bag of rich dark expresso beans from Starbucks. I am aware a lot of coffee lovers here detest Starbucks but I have to say I found the coffee incredible, I totally loved it.

I want to try out different beans so last week I purchased in local Tesco a bag of Bewleys finest derk expresso beans. I was very disappointed with Bewleys I find it very bland and lacking flavour.

Can anyone please recommend any alternative topqusliry rich dark expresso beans please? I want to try out the best :)

Congratulations on the purchases. I moved away from espresso drinks a few years but regularly use an aeropress. Many of the forum regular's recommend Nick's Coffee at the moment. I mainly use Badger and Dodo or Bailies. CoffeeAngel and 3fE are also worth a shout. None of the above will roast the beans as far as you seem to like but give them a shot and see what you think.

    Hi,

The thing to note with the supermarket stuff is that it was probably all roasted a long time ago and then sealed in bags which *should* preserve flavour etc but.......... <Start argument here>

As Mr Magnolia has mentioned there are a number of other places to get beans from (CoffeeAngel, 3fe......) All of these tend to roast regularly and sell immediately thereafter. If you are not physically near any of these then most of them have an online shop that you can order from. You will see the roast date on the bag when you receive the beans and it will typically be within a day or two of your order....

Not sure of what beans to get? then I'd say send them an email to recommend something, my experience is that most of these people are reeeally into their coffee and love to talk about it :)

Stop buying dry crap in Tesco. Find a local place that roasts to order or order online. Once beans are roasted they quickly lose most of the oil (20-30 days). Fresh coffee beans will always have a roasted on date not a best before date

I have a local place I use and I also order the odd bag online to mix it up. Free shipping on orders over £25 so use Parcel Motel/Wizard etc
