Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Too many mistakes at critical times. Munster leaving this one behind.

PoM has done a lot to help take the pressure off Exeter today.

Really hope Munster don't come to rue that lineout penalty...

Exeter scrum half has been terrible

    Carberys defence has been great.

Out on the full if he did without a bounce infield first

Here comes a penalty at the scrum and Exeter will kick to win it, just watch.

Really poor decision for that kick.

Both touchliness were covered. Right idea, get out of your half. What I said easrlier about the wind not necessarily being an advantage.

    Great defence at the end!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,930 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Decent result

Ironically same result as round 1 last season

Done very well to keep that out. Need a big win next week but won't be easy

    Great result. Ugly game!

That's a fantastic 2 points from Munster and could well have been more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Im sure they'd have taken that result before kickoff, but Munster should've won that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,416 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

That's some defense from Munster at the end there, kudos.

No idea why Exeter didn't just take a drop goal though. Was their kicker injured or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Chiefs made a balls of that at the end.

But 2 points out of that and keeping the Chiefs to 2 points is a good outcome for that game.

Was there had they been more clinical. Good result on the road though.

I enjoyed that, for some reason!

Got out of jail a little after Carberry's kick but Munster's defense deserved that. Exeter will definitely feel that was 2 points dropped.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

I would describe that Munster performance as dogged. Great result for them. Almost the architects of their own destruction there at the end though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Happy with that. Hard place to go. Probably could have been a Munster win with a bit of discipline and fewer errors.

Playing into a gale force wind, never really had the clean platform for it either.

The wind was a nightmare and quite unpredictable all game. You'd almost want a 5m banker drop goal in front of the posts if you're going to attempt it at all.

That's fair about the wind I suppose. Though that close to the line...

Very impressive from Munster. Exeter all in on Europe this year but Munster closed then right down.

Glad Carbery got off the hook there at the end.

Who got motm? Beirne, Pom, Stander all excellent.

I'm actually surprised that Exeter looked so toothless at times. Munster's defence seemed to unsettle them.

Not sure I buy into POM was poor, he made ****e of their lineout on his own. Couple of nice offloads too. Most tackles on the Munster team. Few penalties against him alright though

Edit to add, he slowed down some amount of their ruck ball, watch it back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

We should look at this not as getting only 2 points but more importantly taking 2 points away from Exeter.

    Fantastic result.

Baffling how that Exeter team are top of the premiership, they had no ideas beyond route one.

Fair play to Duncan Williams, he had a good game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Good result for Munster. In fairness the weather was tough with a gale blowing. Ref could easily have given a penalty at the end for the scrum.

No wins for the English yet.

Very good result overall. I thought with 15 minutes left after just scoring the try we were in a good position. The pen after the Carbury kick to the corner was so frustrating. We were lucky for sure in the end. I thought most of the subs made an impact, except for Marshall who struggled on his darts. Happy enough overall though, that's a tough place to get a result like that.

Games reffed by Garces are always so messy to watch though. Probably suit us tbh.

Yeah, I’ll rephrase to poor discipline, same with Cronin, solidified the scrum but was poor outside of that. Munster unlucky not to get a pen at the end, Stander sidestepped a clearout way past the ruck as the Exeter lad went straight off his feet. No interest in it.

Great decision to swap archer for Ryan for that last scrum too.

Delighted with the 2 points but a win left behind.

Wrecked after that. Probably should have won it with less errors. Still a great result.

Having seen top and third play this weekend so far, it appears the Premiership has not improved on last year. Exeter very one dimensional and Wasps just average all round

Yeah. I was really expecting more from Exeter given all the talk of preparing well in advance for this. Maybe the conditions didn't help, but it looked very one dimensional.

well done to Duncan Williams was slagging off pre match but was very good

Invaluable two points for Munster come January and certainly Exeter will rue the two to three points they failed to get at home.

The talk all week was that Munster coming away with one point was the best they could hope for.

Wasn’t a great performance from Munster, I personally thought last weeks against Leinster was better but maybe the conditions were the difference.

PoM needs to sort out his binding quickly before it starts getting pinged by referees in a big match. Certainly next week Gloucester pointing it out to the referee pre match to watch out for.

He’ll have some job shifting Henderson and Toner.
