Hi folks - we'll be looking at picking up a new TV around Black Friday time. We're looking at 50 inch on the lower end price wise. Spotted the Philips 50PUS6703 which seems to fit the bill and gets great reviews. I've never seen Ambilight in person but have heard it's great.

What's your opinion on this set? Anything else we should be looking at in that price range?

    Hey Bawnmore.

    Thanks for the post.

The Philips 50PUS6703 is a great little television for the money.
We have the 43" version running here in our store and one of my colleagues purchased the 50" version last week once he seen the 43" in action.

The Ambilight feature really sets the TV apart from others in its price bracket and brings your room to life.
The 50PUS6703 has been given 5 stars by What HiFi.

For alternatives you could have a look at the LG 50UK6750 priced £529.00

Or the Hisense 50U7A coming in at £539.00

Thanks Kenny - appreciate the feedback - sounds like a great tv. We're in between minds between this and a HiSense. Would there be much between the Philips and say the Hisense 50A6200 in your opinion?

    Hey Bawnmore.

To be honest I prefer the Philips picture quality and the ambilight is a real added bonus for effect.

Both are nice televisions and you would not be unhappy with either.

Looks like a serious deal on here at the moment. How's this TV in the flesh?

    Hi Bawnmore,

As you’ve asked for this TV in a separate thread, I’m closing this for the moment - having two open queries for the same item creates unnecessary confusion for RS trying to keep track.

There’s no problem having this re-opened if your plans on the other thread change ( just drop me a quick PM) or you can leave this dormant and open a new thread.

    Ritz.
