hello - i am try to add files to my wife's website - she is hosting it with Blacknight , and whilst I am uploading the file(s) by filezilla FTP are getting rejected. I think its a permission thing - I have ticked all to allow read write and execute - still rejected.

So then I have heard you can change permissions by going into cpanel there but when I try to go into cPanel I get this screen instead.

EDIT: its OK I think I sussed it. Was trying to put the files into the wrong folder.

    - does cPanel come free automatically with a blacknight hosting package or do you have to pay extra for cpanel?

    thanks.

OK, now I have a different problem. I have managed to upload all the files I wanted to into the webspace/httpdocs folder but still when I click onto the landing page it just comes up with the blacknight landing/ parking page - any ideas please?

Get onto Blacknight Support - their live chat is brilliant and you'll get an answer quickly.

It might be as simple as the website hosting space is in a subdirectory e.g. webspace/httpdocs/example.com

Blacknight shared hosting uses Plesk. It is similar.

I've asked the moderators to move this thread to our board https://www.boards.ie/blacknight

    To answer your questions:
    - no we don't use cPanel with our standard shared hosting. We offer it as an option for cloud / VPS or dedicated servers. And no, it's not free.
    - our shared hosting control panel runs a form of Plesk, though it's not "off the shelf"

ah right thanks for your reply Michele - I was just asking because with my website its hosted by x10 premium hosting and it does come with cPanel and I find it quite handy with mine , but my wife's website is with Blacknight and i couldnt see where you could get cpanel included in with the hosting package. - thats why then . Thanks.

I could spend hours on the ins and outs of the various control panels and their strengths and weaknesses :)

what do you mean? - do you mean that Plesk is the same / similar to Cpanel?

On my package I do like the "edit html" in the Cpanel file manager , find it quite handy it has a WYSIWYG interface
