If that doesn't work I have a much more effective but messier coping mechanism but hopefully I won't have to resort to that.
If thats "cutting", don't do it, come in here and post and we will support you.
I really am a downer on this thread
Nope you really aren't, this thread reflects all parts of life, your story is just one part of it and it's needed.

Greetings from Basel where its lovely -1C, I have a nice 5 hour jaunt back today, howling winds so it should be fun.

Also downloaded The Grand Tour Season 3-1 so keep me amused.

It would have been self harm yes but thankfully the meds have me very pain free at the moment.

I just feel like me posting what I do doesn't fit in with the banter that does be going on in this thread.

Rollocks to that attitude, you are very much a part of this group, good days and bad.

And there is only so much porn that I can read from the others 😀

Shpud the beauty of this thread is that it goes from serious to banter and back to serious all the time. Just like life. Keep posting!

I didn't know of you till just before Xmas and your updates on this thread, but now I look for your updates everytime I come on here.
I sense from you a reaching out for help and god knows you've been through a terrible time and a very recent event that would knock anyone back.
Yours is probably the most human story on here and probably the one that reflects how hard life can be the most.
Please keep posting and I hope all the best comes to you and for you.
I honestly hope there is someone close to you you can reach out to, please do if there is, help is often where you least expect it.
Lost friends and family over keeping things bottled up, please never be afraid to share your struggles, no matter to whom or where and never apologise for doing so.

In kitchen having tea and toast, we have had a slight covering of snow here overnight, feels wintry.

In the Blackrock clinic waiting for the consultant to marvel at the medical wonder that is me.

Ie, tell me there is nothing wrong, charge me €200 and send me home.

Shpud, you'll get through this, and you don't want to be looking at scars when you're out spotting the young wans at a beach in Ibiza! Mind yourself - treat yourself like you would treat a loved one. You deserve it!

Carside. Off to work I go (hi ho, hi ho, hi ho).

Lying in my bed. School run collection in ten minutes and they're all set. Didn't sleep much for worry last night and if there's one thing I know it's worry doesn't help any situation. I'm completely flummoxed, I can usually figure out stuff but this has cut my legs off.

Kitchen table listening to the closing of house doors and car doors outside as everyone scrambles off to life.
I'm just gonna sit here and drink coffee for a couple of hours.

I'm getting through it, currently by use of strong medication to usually put me to sleep or right now the use of morphine based tablets to ease the pain. If that doesn't work I have a much more effective but messier coping mechanism but hopefully I won't have to resort to that.

I really am a downer on this thread :(

    You're not a downer . You're a fighter .
You're getting there , remember everything you've been through and all that is ahead for you , your photography and things that you love .

In the kitchen , coffee in hand .

You may have all heard of the clothes horse but have you heard of the clothes dog?! My eldest dog now stands next to me when I go collect washing from around the house. I put things over his back and around his neck and he carries them to the washing machine with me.
There’s no such thing as a free dinner in my house.

It's a murky dirty old day out there, so shopping is finished and I'm going to settle down to a pot of coffee, biscuits, book and newspaper, in front of a warm coal fire.

Truck overturned on Sligo Dual Carriage Way, traffic diverted as both Sligo bound lanes blocked. Another truck hit bridge on one of the diverts. A 15 minute journey turned into near an hour!

Home now, kitchen table, radio on, and a cup of tea.

Out in the rather cold city of Limerick. Need to go to the hospital for a special prescription but at least I have a chance to practise my photography.

41000 feet doing down the side of Italy towards Greece, trying out our newly installed satellite internet. This is costing $2000 per hour at highest speed, so bloody expensive and still “slow”

Siting in car outside dunnes in Longford, waiting on Mrs. Decided to take the day off, one of the perks of being self employed.
Going to head up town for lunch when she gets out.

Spent the morning making chicken stew and drinking 17 litres of coffee so I'm perky af and now having restorative cuddles on the couch while the spuds and cauliflower simmer. I also spent about an hour in the new ball pool with Elliot where he reached out to grab the balls, first time he's ever made an effort to join in with play. Onwards and upwards.
