Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The problem I have with using the UK address is if there is a problem with the phone will it complicate things, also address pal has hardly no insurance if the phone goes missing which can happen. It's a very high price item to chance it. Strange that amazon says delivery to Ireland is available yet the offer is not. Even if I give say a relatives address as mine in the UK, what's the story with warranty etc. I looked online and in one of the UK tech websites it listed a good few retailers with the offer. Harvey Norman being the only one in Ireland is disappointing.

Yeah. That's why I contacted Huawei to confirm. I again sent them message on Facebook and got the same response. We might have to wait for Three and Vodafone to release. They have limited availability for watch and charger but should be cheaper than amazon or Harvey.

Gutted that I am not due my upgrade on Three until new year. Would have loved to have got this with the watch. If only they could let me upgrade now and then extend my contract for 24 months from the end of my current contract :(

Contact the Three reps here. They sorted me out with an early upgrade. I had only a month to go but worth a shot

Sky have said they're trying to deliver mine before Nov 8th

  • Registered Users Posts: 203 ✭✭clacks

Amazon support told me that the release date was changed to November 20th

Argos have it for pre order for release tomorrow according to their Irish website but at €1149

Scratch that. Sky have said it's coming tomorrow.

It appears the twilight colour scheme is the one in short supply, judging from the different release dates on amazon. Someone over on XDA had rung up sky in the UK and changed his order from Twilight to black and was going to get delivered tomorrow after he was told it would be delayed initially.

My contract is up with vodafone in a few weeks. Thinking of switching to three and getting this on 45 a month. Bit hesitant about threes coverage and data speeds though..

Yeah thinking of moving to 3 for it as Eir are not offering it. But their coverage outside of Dublin is terrible.

Does anyone know what the Three offer is? Have they got any prices for it yet?

Loads of reports about green screen issues on new handsets on reddit. Huawei tried to claim it was standard for oled screens but have been forced to admit issue and apparently its a bad batch of phones.
If you get a bad one contact asap as they have the batch numbers and will ship a replacement device.
    Shocking for a flagship device.

    True,
At least batteries are not expanding, or the phones are not catching fire or the internal memory becomes corrupt causing countless reboots. The above are a few of the issues that have bligted Samsung phones over the years

Edit, there is always oneplus 6t

This phone is brilliant. It's got a couple of quirks I'm not a fan of but willing to over look them.
    The gesture control is brilliant.

I would like to be able to pull down the notification bar just by swiping down on the home screen. It's something I used to be able to do with my OnePlus 3T.

Any idea if the OnePlus launcher can be installed without issues?

    Three now offering this.
€519 on bill pay of €30 and €349 on the €60 a month.
Completely taking the piss considering they’re offering it in the UK for £45 upfront on a £45 a month contract.

Buy it on prepay then for 899, sounds like quite a good offer that way as phone is 1049 in Harvey Norman

Is that an upgrade offer? I can only see €649 for the €30 plan.

    - Would this stop anyone getting one? Only one bad batch?

Might get on Three Prepay. Don't fancy having to return it if I did.

As you as you didn’t mind dealing with Huawei’s crap customer support. Everyone is giving out about it plus their refusal to acknowledge the issue at first.
When I read this I ended up getting the iPhone X’s max. Cost me the same price as what three are charging for this.
Hopefully Huawei improve their customer support by the time my next upgrade comes around.

Do the Irish carriers have the dual sim version of the Mate 20 Pro or do they all only sell the single sim version?

Vodafone reps said the first 100 would come with the watch and charger. I highly doubt 100 people have ordered tonight

Edit: if you really want the freebies Carphone Warehouse have them online for Vodafone from tomorrow

Seems to be the black colour only, Freebies will be gone by the time other colours available

Does color really matter? It’s the back of the phone, how often do you look at the back? Also do you not use a cover? I would have liked the twilight myself but I’ll have a cover on it so it’s gonna make no difference to me really.

Avoid three, Absolutely rubbish signal and rubbish internet outside of major towns. Work phones three and everyone complains about them. No three reception in my house either so no thanks.
Would have gladly stayed with eir if they stocked the phone

While all that is true, if it's unlocked they can put any sim in it.

As far as I know the networks now unlock them for you on request as your tied into contract anyway. Tesco Mobile and eir serenity let you unlock on request

    - Not trying to annoy you but are you concerned at all about the green screen issue being reported?

    Very tempted to get this.

Issues happen with all new phones nowadays. Will just return it if it does happen. So no harm in trying.
