Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Republic-of-Ireland-v-Wales-FIFA-2018-World-Cup-Qualifier.jpg

Our biggest game of the year so far this evening as we desperately need 3 points. Teams are ib:
Ireland XI: Randolph; Keogh, Duffy, K. Long; Doherty, Christie, Hendrick, Arter, McClean; Robinson, O'Brien.

Wales XI: Hennessey, C. Roberts, Chester, Williams, Davies, Smith, Allen, Wilson, Brooks, Lawrence, T. Roberts.

Pleased to see Robinson start. Wales without Bale, Ramsey and Ampadu, so we'll never get a better chance to turn them over.

I'll say Ireland to win 2-1.

The Welsh team just came out of The Conrad when I was leaving work at 6. Giggsy blocking my way!

RTE has audio whether you'll be able to sync the two is another matter - audio usually ahead of pictures.

Absolutely dreadful that this isn’t on RTÉ.

Shame on the fai for abandoning their fans.

Or to get money into Delaney and Co's pockets

I often feel when the games aren't on FTA tv that there is a lot less talk/interest in them & let's be honest most aren't prepared to pay to watch Ireland on telly. Certainly Virgin aren't worth getting for sport that was free for years before they bought the rights.

And have RTE ever shown friendly games? Which these games currently fall under for tv rights. Next set of nations league games will probably be included in the whole free to air agreement thingy that means competitive games have to be free to air.

I'll say Ireland to win 2-1.

Say it be 1-0. Bore them to death and catch them with a set piece.

They have before Sky came in.

All games featuring the national team should be free to air on the national station. The taxpayer funds these teams through various sports grants etc.

But that's another argument and not for here.

Home friendlies have been on sky for about 16 years at this stage.

I'm guessing that the Nations League came in the middle of a rights period this they are on sky

Next rights issue might have them designated as competitive games.

So sorry not no one will miss Ireland v Finland or Luxembourg next time round

Is there some sort of secret challenge for the Sky pundits, to see how many times they can shoehorn in mentions of Bale and Ramsey not playing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,820 ✭✭✭smelly sock

Robinson can keep the ball. Hes been decent so far.

Watch it on S4C its great craic altogether. No idea what they are saying but it sounds much more coherent than the Sky commentators id say :D

Christie needed to take that further in. Hourihane would have.

Had soo much time, could have walked on and slotted it home 1v1, didn't need to rush it so much at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,839 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Yeah, excellent save but if he had it again Christie might have had another touch towards goal, he had time and space.

Plenty of players have played out of their so called natural positions before and done well so why not give it a go. Its not like it has been a disaster....yet :D

Hooefully they see that themselves. Wales are ordinary and no where near miles ahead of us there is no way they should be dominating us in any game. I fear tho we will sit back from 30 mins on.

Yeh the cyrus christie thing isnt working. Can we please just use one of the central midfield players that are on the bench.
