Auditing

    Hi All
Just wondering if anyone here would give me their opinion of their experience starting out in audit.
I have been working in practice now for nearly a year, I have one year of exams done, none of these audit related.
I am currently out on audit with my workplace and kind of feel out of my depth, I feel stupid trying to even understand some of the tests. I'm secretly hoping that most people are like this when they start.
I've received no training from work it's more of a learn as you go along/look at the last audit file that was done and figure it out yourself kind of thing. There is one person with me that I can ask some questions to.
Is this how most people start out auditing, like been thrown in at the deep end.

Just looking for a pep talk really to get me through the next two weeks, it gets better right? :D

Some times getting thrown in at the deep end is when you learn most. When I started it was like that here is last year's file now do the same this year which is a but **** TBH. The other side is that the people above you are probably under time pressure. As some one who has been both the junior and senior I would respect some one who came to me and said listen I don't understand this, if I did I could do it better and quicker. Also the person that you will be dealing with was probably in the same boat. I would suggest trying to identify some one above you, create a rapport and then use them to mentor you.

Thanks I needed to hear that. I've no problem been thrown in at the deep end once I know I'll start picking things up as I'm going along.
We had another guy with us today who was in my shoes last year, so that put me at ease a bit.
It is a tough job and now I know why it pays well, not many people want to do it :D
