True but you surely must admit that something must be done about the racial segregation of travellers in Dublin. In the rest of the country halting sites seem fairly distributed in country towns and villages but are on the poorest western fringes in Dublin.

    This is the real scandal.
We have tried a lot of different things with travellers and travellers site .

One thing we have not tried is moving Travellers / halting sites in to the wealthy areas .

Travellers have more in common with wealthy people than might appear obvious at first glance .

Our Wealthy are fond of Tax Avoidance = Ditto for Travellers .

Our Wealthy Bankers etc have a somewhat ambiguous relationship with respect for the Law = Ditto for Travellers .

Our Wealthy seem to socialise / circulate ( Golden Circle ) in their own select group = Ditto for Travellers .

Partial to Larger vehicles for transport = Ditto for Travellers .

Its pretty obvious that we have not been locating Travellers with the section ( the wealthy ) of Irish Society that they have most in common with .

During the Presidential election and with some others since it is obvious that the wealthy areas are crying out for their very own Travellers . They feel they are missing out and , frankly feel let down that they haven’t got their Travellers .;)

    Well that escalated quickly

A friend said they were going to vote for #PeterCasey for #Aras18 saying that he was right about Political Correctness getting out of hand. I couldn't help myself and said 'Well if we're not being PC then I'm just a chink & you're just a bigoted pr%@k'. *Silence* #aras2018

The Journal have given this Green Party candidate an opinion piece on the election

That's confusing political correctness with racism(your interpretation of you friends views) and being impolite(your response).

    Glazers Out!

She even addressed the tweet in the article

"But what’s the solution apart from calling everyone a prick (and I’ve done that)?

Be a little more tolerant and actually celebrate our differences, call **** out when you think it’s wrong and be open to the fact that someone might call you out. It sounds all saintly but it’s not, it’s just the way to a nicer society."

I asked my father if they locked their doors when he was young, and lived on a farm.
"No, there was nothing to take in the house. And we probably couldn't afford a lock."

My mother used to say that if anyone broke into our house and saw what we had they might leave us something.

Whilst traveller crime is a huge issue in rural Ireland what about 98% of the traveller population getting away with not working ... and expect others to provide for them .... travellers with 8 or 9 children are way better off than many houses where both parents work .

Maybe we should all become travellers and not work ??

More Casey bashing in the media this morning. An anti truth article in the Irish Examiner and an article by a Chinese lady in the Journal saying that she couldn’t sleep with anxiety before the outcome of the presidential election was known, for fear of Casey, “a man who spouted a tirade of hate” winning. She contrasted this with waiting for the result of the 8th Amendment referendum where she was giddy with excitement of the outcome.

Yet again our free media who should be champions of free speech only see value in diversity of race, sexuality, gender but simply can not tolerate any diversity of opinion.

The consistent theme is that the opinions of no voters in the abortion referendum were wrong and similarly the opinions of Casey voters are wrong. They are deviant views that must be corrected by endless one sided media re education pieces.

In the interests of equality and diversity will the Journal.ie publish an opinion piece from someone who voted for Casey?

    I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I have actually been told "free speech doesn't mean you are free to express whatever you want. People might disagree with your view".

Yeah it kinda does! And that's the point - they are free to disagree!

The Chinese are building huge camps to contain and re educate Muslims. They have denied this( as always) but the compounds are on google maps. No one knows whats going on in these holding bays but its probably not pleasant.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/31/uk-believes-china-has-interned-about-1-million-uighur-muslims

Then you have this wannabee politican criticising Irish people, would the combined Green party even poll as many votes as Peter Casey. They are a non entity and you can see from her silly article why.

Get out Hazel into the real world and go and visit Rathkeale. Go to Tipperary and visit the brand new houses your good looking tax was used for, they are sitting there empty while the people they were intended for live on an unauthorised campsite across the road. I am beginning to think the travellers concerned dont want houses at all, with owning and renting a house comes responsibility. How do people living in unauthorised encampments on the road pay for electricity and refuse disposal, does the council foot the bill for this.

Does anyone know who owns the land the travellers are camped on, would they have adverse possession of it or could the council build more houses on it for people on the list if it was vacated.

Its articles written by the likes of Hazelnut that rile people up and if you rile enough people enough and then they are just ignored and their concerns reduced to racism you will set off a chain of events that may be unstoppable. There is no way those three hundred thousand people who voted for Casey and going to sit back now and take anymore of what led them to vote en masse, if action isnt seen to be taken now these people will establish their own law and order unit and this will lead to fatalities.

Would he Journal view an attack on an elderly farming couple by travellers in the middle of the night as racist?

I actually dont get the outrage?

ive seen plenty of opinion pieces pro casey.

It feels like there is a bunch of people being selective here. And just like in the US are pretending that they are being surpressed by some closet bogey man.

Oh yeah, its the media again . grrrrr journalists ..

No one is surpressing you, No one is after your thoughts.

I have no particular notions of 'pc' gone mad, but i do see alot of people that are selectively outraged across the board. And need to bloody grow up.

There would appear to be more evidence of the travellers behaving bigoted / racist to people they see as not like themselves .

Travellers are definitely Homophobic . How do they get on with other races ? They are a very closed society .

Peter Casey has opened a Great Debate . Thank you Peter Casey .

    Peter Casey opened nothing.

    Are you new to boards?

'this debate' has been going on since the internet started. high point being the McNally case.

Its actually frightening you think Casey is a messiah and opened our eyes...

We have traveller threads every 2 weeks, long before that lad pretended he was coming back from the states to live on this island

even if you wanted to go to the pub it's usually not an option for you

We had a traveller funeral in the town that I work in two weeks ago

The guards went around before hand to all the pubs in town to tell them about the funeral

Every single one closed on mass

All the pub owners are prob 'racist' to some but in reality they just didn't want the chance of their business being smashed to pieces

Agreed. Martin Collins could learn a lot from him. He was very measured, unlike the usual antagonism from PP.

Martin Collins is only co director of PP.
It means someone else has the hand out with him for the government sponsored wages that go with the job of representing the traveller groups.
