I see what I was doing wrong. IE pricing vs your UK pricing.

I stayed with 1060 vs your 1070 to keep price lower. Is there enough jump in performance of 1060 over current laptop spec or should I really be looking at 1070

    Thanks for the reply

    Notes:
CPU cooler: not strictly necessary, but the M9a is quieter than AMD stock.
Motherboard: DO NOT CHEAP OUT HERE. Since this is running a 6-core Ryzen 2600, a good motherboard with VRM cooling is a must for longevity. Get the above-recommended MSI board.
Storage: Get a 480/500Gb SSD, you'd be surprised how quickly they fill up.
GPU: make sure you're selecting the OCV1 and not the OC model.
Case: Focus G is cheap but quality & easy to build in. Might want to add another 120mm fan for exhaust though.
PSU: Seasonic G 550W is Gold-rated, which is a grade better than Silver.
OS: You don't need to buy Windows 10 tbh, just put it onto an 8Gb+ flash drive (here on Microsoft.com) and click "Activate later" during installation.
    Sound card: NOT NEEDED
    LAN card: NOT NEEDED

This system should give you 1920x1080 at High settings in most games.

    Nearly there.

I copied your build fully keeping it to amazon and CCL, added the extra 120mm fan. But the CPU cooler from cooler master is not compatible. I went back to the BeQuiet brand and picked a low dB fan. Is this correct with regard to cooler master ?

This will be the final build I hope and should pull the trigger on this by the weekend. Your advice so far is very much appreciated. Final advise required.

    Looks grand yeah.

Regarding Cryorig M9a, it does work, you just need to contact Cryorig for a free bracket.

Hi. I have just ordered everything except the power supply and case. The case is available but the power supply is to be shipped from US with a delay of up to 2 months.

    2 things.

    1. Is this a switching power supply or likely to blow on 230V mains

    2. Can you recommend another power supply as 2 months wait is silly

    :D

Just had to address this....your current laptop isn't even a gaming laptop, you could honestly buy a 2nd hand PC for €200 that would run rings around it in games.

    M335 - GTAV at 720P low settings 30fps.

    GTX1060 6GB - GTAV at 1080p ultra settings 80-90fps.

Even a €500 budget new build would destroy the laptop performance wise.

Thanks for this. I am no a PC gamer but my son is and I wanted to hear this.

Went with a Corsair - TXM Gold 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Everything ordered. Next step the build.

Building this now. Which direction should the fan of the power supply be in. Down to base of case which has a mesh filter or up towards the cards etc.

Sucking hot air from GPU on to power supply makes no sense but having the fan facing the ground makes even less sense.

Facing down, it sucks in colder air from outside the case and exhausts out the back.

Facing the ground, it'll take it air through the mesh.

Cpu Be quiet cooler. Got the cooler mounted ok but what is the cooler fan direction. Pulling hot air off or pulling air on to the cooler. Online says Be quiet logo facing out but that is pulling air to the cooler.

PC built. Ran a game called house flipper on it which would not run on the laptop we had.

Holds 75fps with all settings maxed out. GPU never got above 62C. CPU temp held about 30C. So I must have installed the cooler correctly with fan pulling cold air on to the fins of cooler.

Any photo's of the finished PC you'd like to share?
