    Ridiculous statement.

What's ridiculous about it, Cerrone is a journeyman. He goes in to panic mode when hurt. conor should hit him clean and often and have him turtle up before the first rounds over.
This is going to be just like Nate Diaz where he gets hyped up as some unbeatable killer.

But that didn't happen though, did it? McGregor was a huge favourite for 196 (-400 odd or even more if I recall) and he was still a narrow favourite for the rematch.

Cerrone is long in the tooth and susceptible to getting sparked but dismissing him as some sort of bum journeyman is crazy.

I said going into the Khabib fight that McGregor seemed under pressure and under prepared. They went into camp with a lower than ideal fitness level (from pissing about for a year) and spent too much of camp simply trying to get into shape.

Just looking at his activity, I don't see them making this mistake again. I see him getting into good pre-camp shape for the last month, taking a tune up fight against Cerrone and then trying to set up an immediately turnaround against Khabib. So he doesn't have time to fall out of shape between camps and piss about on boats etc.

Even if the Khabib fight isn't next, McGregor is going to want to avenge that loss. Regardless, even if the Khabib fight wasn't on the horizon McGregor is always going to be working on his grappling so it's not surprising to see him training with Nikolay. Sure, wasn't he training with him for the Alvarez fight.

No he doesn’t. The only avenge he’ll get is a pay day. He simply can’t out wrestle Khabib and he vertical can’t knock him out .

I know Khabib has never been stopped but I don't think he can't be knocked out, you can see fear on his face when he senses danger, he's just difficult to hit and good at staying out of range when he senses it. Conor really only landed 1 note worthy punch in the fight but it made khabib shoot right away.

If he can find a way to not get taken down early and land clean, consistently, he could beat khabib imo. I think he has a better chance against khabib than cerrone/ferguson who are more dangerous with strikes and submissions, khabib is a decision fighter with an odd submission win but only after mauling. Mcgregor showed he does have some ability to avoid that but made too many mistakes early. He didn't seem switched on enough to avoid the 1st takedown attempt, and again in 2nd round where he got caught. Not enough standup training imo.

Well Khabib ain't fighting anytime soon. By the time he sits out 1 year that his mate got banned for - it'll be Ramadan and he'll be out for another 3 months.

It's time to strip Khabib so. He didn't even win the belt, it was handed to him, so technically he hasn't even defended it yet.

And while Conor hasn't defended either belts, he didn't lose them either.
So technically he's still the champ champ.

Definitely seems to have his head down now and training, how long it lasts who knows.

Is Cerrone trolling or will this happen?

What's it got to do with the UFC?

To me it seems like mcgregor and cerrone have contracts and mcgregor hasn't signed it, he's trying to nudge mcgregor to sign his but really he's being used as a pawn. Same way Khabib was used and had a contract for Alvarez when mcgregor ended up fighting him. Dana was saying that too https://mmajunkie.com/2016/09/dana-white-suggests-eddie-alvarez-vs-khabib-nurmagomedov-not-conor-mcgregor-at-ufc-205

I like how Cowboy is pitching it as Bud vs. Proper 12. That’s a pretty good match up, quality wise.

That was a tweet from Cowboy.
There isn't actually an interim title fight booked

Like when Dustin and Nate both said they were fighting for a 165 belt hoping to get fans behind it and therefore UFC to book it. Same tactics from Cowboy.

    Current UFC logic.

Tell tony to sit out until Khabib is back and he gets first shot at the title, but at the same time Conor vs Cowboy will be made for the Interim belt to jestify making it the headline of a PPV card (all PPVs have to be headlined by a title fight now).

So you'll have another completely pointless interim belt for the sake of selling a fight and then have the actual belt defended a few months later by Khabib against someone other than the Interim champion.

the organisation is a total farce at this stage, for the sake of the sport the Ali act needs to be expanded to MMA to remove absolute morons like Dana White from the positions of power they currently hold.

Interim titles are like hampers on the Late Late Show at this stage, they give them to everyone.

    He lost both titles.

Andy Lee still has his WBO belt, does that mean he's still the WBO champion?

    Don't be absurd.

No they don't. The 2 fights with Diaz were headlines and they weren't title fights.

In the WME era I think they might mean, 202 was the first under WME but I imagine was already organised before the sale. Tonight will be the first PPV without a title main event.

Saying he will fight Nate in curitiba along with Nick and Anderson fighting too. Not sure how i would feel with a 3rd Diaz fight feels a bit pointless now would be funny to see Dana make it for the interim title though. Good that he's showing interest in getting back inside the octagon though nothing beats the buzz of the build up or fight night like a McGregor card.

Hey, we are all tough guys who know about fighting. We don’t joke. But when we do you better laugh.

    But we don’t.

The ones who responded have such a deep rooted hatred toward McGregor it won't allow them to recognise the joke!

Joke would probably be funnier if the man himself wasn't still going around calling himself the champ champ.

I think Gastelum is taking a leaf out of Conor's book but taking it to the next level. He's walking around with a fake belt. He didn't even win it himself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,919 ✭✭✭simongurnick

Sounds like Conor is raring to go again. Nate in Brasil, an honour to fight Silva, Cowboy rumours. Bring it on!

He is back training again regularly which is a sign there is something coming up.
