strabanimal must be the stupidest nickname of all time.

Probably not that stupid for someone from Strabane.
Too late to change it now as well.
I'd like someone to ask him in an interview though.

I thought I read that Conor was going to be at bellator? Did John actually advise him to stay away ( can't picture Conor listening to that) or is he just still in America?
He's still in America by the looks of things.
Not sure where the John told him to stay away story came from.

I think Rory MacDonald has/had worse ones when he was changing them every week.
Many, many worse ones than the strabanimal

Yeah. One that springs to mind would be Charlie "the hospital" ward.

Certainly not one Americans would get I wouldn't have thought.

    LMFAO.

Who calls him the hospital? Or was it before Relentless

I think the strabanimal is a pretty good one actually, and that's from someone who thinks he's a complete tube.

I think America suits him, he has way more fans over there, majority of this country can't stand him and our media hate him. I know he's fierce loyal but if I was him, I'd pack up bags with Dee and the kids (hers) and head stateside full-time.

The media hate him? Complete nonsense. The media report him.

Ali has gone in hard on McGregor again and says he's a broken man now.

Ha ha, I thought it was a date. I was thinking, what's so special about the 25th of August that he only goes beastin' then. What a terrible name.

Not a peep out of McGregor regarding the Bellator event at the weekend? Strange

Not one to get involved in the McGregor v JK nonsense but it seems he really didn't appreciate the training focus for the last camp.

Id love to see him In a bjj tournament.

To be fair, he says it was his thinking too. It was everyone's thinking.
It might have work, but it might not. And then the mentality today would he "he should have just defended". Just the way it goes.

    So would I.
When he lost to Nate, there was some serious cringy stuff in BJJ circles. I think an opponent would really underestimate him in a pure grappling scenerio.

He's been in grappling tournaments. His grappling isn't baf

I don't remember seeing anything cringy in BJJ circles at the time (I wasn't really following them though). If anything most were pointing out some of the things Diaz did well. There was a lot of nonsense about how McGregor would get beat by an average white belt but I just put that down to the usual McGregor haters.

I think you misunderstood my point.
I was suggesting his grappling was bad, the opposite in fact

Your post "he's been in grappling tournaments".
I'm not sure what your point was, in regards to what I said. That's all.

You said you'd like to see him in BJJ tournies. I meant to say there is footage of him grappling in tournaments displaying his BJJ skillset.

That was 7 years ago, before he was in the UFC.

We said we'd like to see him in one now. Because that's what the post he made today.

That's still 4 years ago. He would have surely improved since then.

I too would like to see him in a straight grappling competitive arena. Could surprise alot of people as a previous poster said. He hit a sweep in the first Diaz fight and it was beautiful, X-Guard sweep I believe?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭dulux99

He either did or didn't compete in Ireland in 2015, who cares. It's 2019. Lots of people would like to see him compete again.
