    Dear Richersounds staff,

I have limited budget but have been looking to get a new Amp + speakers for my new flat. I have 3 Marantz cd players and a Denon from the golden age of CD that I have been using for years simply with Sennheiser Headphones plugged in (CD52MK2SE) mostly. I was looking at the ONKYO A9010, seems fine plus it has headphone amp. I notice Hi Res been mentioned but fail to understand, it don't have usb input? Is there something similar that has usb flac or HD flac etc? or should these be not
    common on amps.

What speaker's might go well with this for a tight budget but perhaps flexibility if a bargain can be had, Do I need speaker cable?, I don't even have interconnect cables so a recommendation there too..

    kind regards,
    Thom in Limerick

    Hi Thom.

    Thanks for the post.

The Onkyo A9010 is a great little amp and has been 5 star reviewed in What HiFi, currently priced at £229.00.
Where did you read about Hi Res as I cant see it mentioned on our website. The A9010 has no digital processing (UK version) and is an normal analogue amplifier.

For pairing it up with speakers we have it bundled up with the Q acoustics 3020 for £289
    https://www.richersounds.com/onkyo-a9010-black-and-q-acoustics-q3020-graphite.html

You could pair it with the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 for £399
    https://www.richersounds.com/onkyo-a9010-black-monitor-audio-bronze-2-black.html

Or if there are any others on our website that have caught your eye let me know.

    Speaker cable starts at £1.19
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-900187-cambridge-audio-symphony-100-speaker-cable-per-metre.aspx

A phono cable to connect your current CD player would start at £12.99
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-10534-cambridge-audio-aud100-1m-interconnect.aspx

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Hi Kenny,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Some great recommendations...

I think Sterling has raised a bit against the Euro but I need or hope for prices/deals in Euro. My local store savins.ie is cheaper than yerselfs @229 Euro for this amp. Anyway, I have actually compared the DAC version as superior to the UK version so will be going with that. I understand your stores only stock the UK version, but I have seen both versions side by side and the DAC version would suit me better.

As for speakers, the 220 Diamond by Wharfedale seem a good match and price for me. Your website has the best price outside of maybe Ebay but the GBP to Euro conversion is excessively high.

    kind regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas.

The DAC version is as far as I know for the American / European market only.

We are actually cheaper than savin priced at 219 euro delivered, although the one they have for sale is the digital version.
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201387-onkyo-a9010-black-stereo-amplifier.aspx

Our euro pricing is not a direct conversion of the sterling as we have to price for two markets both the UK and the South Of Ireland and try to keep the pricing ahead or equal to our competitors in both the UK and Ireland.

You do not have to pay in a certain currency and can pay in which ever works out cheapest for you.
If you pay in sterling then your own bank would do the conversion.

    Let me know your thoughts.
