City have done this for a while. I'd wager all Guardiolas teams have. It's not enough that you have to play it the right way, their way. You're not allowed play at all. Tactical fouls to break up any semblance of play from the opposition.

They had over twice as much possession yet only 1 foul fewer. That doesn't stack up with a team who are supposed to be the be all and end all.

They are a great attacking team, no doubt, but they're a cynical one without the ball.

Sounds like smart play so the opposition don't get into a rhythm to me.

Ferandinho and Busquets are masters of it.

City players also get lucky when it comes to bookings as well quiet a few red cards only given as yellows.

Sterlings buys that pen is what Hartson say.

    No Sterling cheated.

And either have VAR in every game or don't have it all. There's been several fixtures in the fa cup that have been directly affected by it.

It's not a fair and even draw if some games have it and others don't.

The pro City agenda by the FA clear to be seen.

I dont think it's just the fa. it's just about every person involved with football or a fan if football.

Then so is diving to win a penalty. Either way its cheating. It's commiting a foul on purpose, so it's basically a professional foul whatever way it's dressed up as.

Guardiola does it and it's smart. Conte or Mourinho do it and it's cynical..

I've been saying it for a long time, the standard of officiating in England is shockingly bad. Tonight is another example. I've very little faith either that an English referee will not give that on a VAR review. Anyone, and especially Sterling or a fast moving City player, who hits the deck has a great chance of winning a penalty, they have created they culture over the last few years especially, and it's going to be difficult to put the genie back in the bottle.

and Firmino is expert at this too but is maybe so good many don't really remember that he does something to stop a counter at source in most games. He hardly ever gets booked for it as it's done while looking every inch like genuine defending rather than a cynical hack or obvious pull. He is Liverpools first line of defence.

    Agree.

I recall reading something similar about Firmino doing it. Rare for a striker to be like that usually they're just bad at tackling :pac:

This segment between Doherty, Coady and Ian Wright is great.

Will there be an Asterisk on the FA Cup trophy this years saying some teams had the help of VAR some didn't.

The FA made a complete fcuk of this.

Do they still play Hi Ho Silver Lining at Molineux?

there should be, because what has gone on means there has been different rules for teams competing in the same competition, surely that is not right either evey team plays under the same conditions or else VAR is not used in any game....

Wolverhampton are a bit too sideways at times but a few decent chances starting to come. Pace is the thing.

Right call for the peno shout, but I think City would’ve got it.

Slow start but good game without any goal. Some excellent counter attacks by Wolves but also a slight lack of imagination in front of goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Feel it might take a bit of Mata magic off the bench to get the breakthrough. All a bit hit and hope atm.

If Man U make the semis they may have to play with Ole's babies the class of '19 they will have everyone else out.

Totally agree. Only one team in it in the second half so far.

I don't get to see much of Utd but Pereira has never impressed me whenever I've seen him. Generally looks like a Championship level player. Am I missing something?

    Edit: What a goal!

    Cracking 2nd by Wolves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,520 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

His Wayne Rooney body type didn't help him there. Turned like a oil tanker.
