Anyone who can quiten a noisy pump?

    I've recently gotten a new pump in our terraced house. We've no attic and the pump is under the stairs in the sitting room. The house is unbearable. I'm looking for someone who could box it off, with sound proofing inside the box and place soundproof tiles (which we just got) underneath it. Anyone got any experience of this type of thing?

    The pump needs to breathe, so dont box it off. Overheating it will kill it very quickly.


    1- you need to fix it to a tile to stop it vibrating on the ground.
    2- It needs to be connected to pipe work with flex pipe to prevent rattling.

    And any pipework thereafter should be fixed tightly to the wall.

    You cannot quieten the pump, just lesson its ability to make external noise.

    Thanks listermint. We were planning on boxing it but leaving a gap where the fan is, it's at one end, near the tank. The tiles underneath will help a bit but the loud and far too regular noise comes from the pump itself, not rattling pipework. We will eventually sound proof the understairs 'room.' But for now some kind of breathable sound proof box would help.

    Could ye get it serviced? Don't know much about pumps but that doesn't sound like it's working right
