Sister is getting a pc for her son for Xmas. He's 8. Plays mostly Minecraft and Fortnite. He will also be doing homework and learning on it.

    I don't know if I should go for an APU or a budget CPU & GPU (i3 and 1050 or a 2400G).

    1. What is your budget?
    €450

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
    Gaming PC

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows?
    No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?
    No

    5. Do you need a monitor?
    No

5a. If yes, what size do you need.
    n/a

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
1080, not upgrading anytime soon .

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?
    No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking?
    Yes

    8. How can you pay?
    Debit card/Visa/Cheque/IBAN

    9. When are you purchasing?
    ASAP

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based?
    Donegal, but should be okay.

16GB memory is way overkill for a low budget machine.

Get a Ryzen 1400 and GTX1050 combo with 8GB ram, the 2400G is grand for those games but way off a 1050 peformance wise.

    Ok, does this look better?
Would have an extra £50 or so to spend so what could I change? CPU upgrade, 1050ti, or SSD?

I'd take a better GPU for sure. You're not buying from all those seperate places I assume, Ebuyer don't deliver here at all and you'd be paying a lot on seperate postage charges!

Also unless I'm mistaken some of those prices are wrong - 8GB DDR4 2400mhz for example, I don't see that on Amazon for anything close to that price.

GTX1050Ti is a good upgrade, but some places now have the RX570 for £160, much better, and it comes with 3 new release games worth more than half that.

According to the Amazon listing, The Tech Warehouse & Kikatek are selling 1x8Gb DDR4-2400 for £46.53.

You're right of course about the eBuyer prices.
But I don't see any way to fit an RX570 into this budget!

Do Mindfactory deliver outside Germany yet?

I know there's an EU directive forcing them to come December, but I haven't looked into it further.

Reason why I'm recommending to spend a little extra on RX 570 over GTX 1050 is that you will get more long-term value - realistically you probably won't have to update for 3+ years whereas GTX 1050 might be outdated TODAY.

You can save a few euro buying used DDR4 RAM, e.g. 55 eur on CEX or bid low on Adverts.ie (here, or here). RAM doesn't degrade over time so buying used is safe.
