Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's as blatant a penalty against England as you can get.

Both sides trying to lose it now.

Both teams utterly pathetic and will be easy meat for Eire if we cross paths with them in the WC

This is one of the worst games I've seen at this level.

England shouldn't be within an arses roar of South Africa and that's not to say anything positive about South Africa, they've been inventive enough but in no way clinical.

I can't believe how bad England are. They're just going through the motions, lack of intensity and structure but enough quality in the 23 that they are keeping a poor South African team just about at bay.

If they play like this against New Zealand they'll ship 30 points.

Why didn’t they go for the dg?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That was the game for SA. England were on the ropes and losing metres every phase.

Utter cowardice from South Africa. Take the drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Sorry that's a shoulder charge from Farrell.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

    Surely that’s a penalty

The ref has bottled that completely.

That's shocking. Farrell shouldn't have got away with that.

    No balls from the ref

    Thats a disgrace!

    Farrell you lucky boy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Well that was awful. England were rubbish, though they got better in the end, but SA should have won that by a country mile. Frustrating stuff to watch.

England didn’t win that game, SA very poor decision making through out the game.

    They woz robbed

    ????
Can someone explain that wrap in the far side remark?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

Looked fine to me. But England are lucky here and you'd have to be very worried as an England fan

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Won my SA handicap bet but that final decision was an utter disgrace. On first viewing I was thinking Farrell will be banned for a few weeks. Absolutely no logic in it not being a penalty at least.

    Hmmm.

Really not sure about that, trying to remove my innate bias from what I saw - but I'd have given a penalty for that.

I think if that wasn't an opportunity to steal the win at the death it would have been given.

Jones will survive now which is a positive I guess.

You don't have to wrap, you have to make an attempt to wrap. Ref saw the video and saw Farrell's arm coming around to wrap (which it did) and concluded that was enough for him.

I can't see either of these teams causing any trouble at the world cup if they play like that

Cipriani got a red vs Munster and he was backing away from the tackle.

Farrell absolutely busts Esterhuizen with the shoulder and no penalty, no yellow and no red.

    Pathetic.

The inconsistency in reffing would grind your gears

That's a pretty shocking call from the ref.

Leaving that aside, SA will be kicking themselves, 76% possession in the first half, overthrew 3 or 4 lineouts in the English 22. Plus the missed kick, didn't go for a drop at the end.

He was attempting to wrap, which he was. Very poor execution, though.

Bull 💩 decision No Wrap around!

That last tackle was a yellow card. Utterly awful decision from the Ref and TMO

    De Allende should be motm.

England celebrating a bit too much.

I don't think we learned much about either side there. Weird game.

I can't see either of these teams causing any trouble at the world cup if they play like that

Regardless, when it gets to the Knockout stage, either of these teams can beat anyone in the world.

South Africa will if they get a bit more streetwise (don't balls up lineouts in the red zone, take the drop goal if its on etc)... which I think they will knowing Rassie and Nienaber.

The question was about the wrap, nothing to do with shoulder.

    That's not illegal

    No real attempt to tackle

Yeah, both seem like teams who can win close games. England proved that today I guess although I think the very best sides should feel capable of getting ahead of England.

It was the clearest, easiest decision that could have been made. How the **** has he not given it?

Came on here to ask, how I’m God’s green earth did Farrell get away with that? Any ref in here think it wasn’t a card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

Cipriani's was shoulder to the head

    It was head to shoulder.

    There’s a difference.

The decision at the end will be a big taking point but not going for the drop goal a few minutes before was also ridiculous
