I reckon just under a grand if your putting ok tyres on. That’s going to a good independent garage. Timing belt and pump would be best part of 400-500. Normal tyres at least 100 a corner. Then if it’s just pads they should be relatively inexpensive I’d imagine

It's impossible to price the tyres without knowing the tyre size.

Skoda dealers will do a timing belt replacement on any Skoda for €399 which is fairly competitive. I believe they have a menu price for front brake pads too of €120.

I wouldn't blindly buy tyres from a main dealer but price around locally, then price the dealer as you may be able to do a deal and it'd be convenient to have them fitted while it's in for the other work.

That Skoda Main Dealer price does not include the Water Pump.... and they won't do the job without replacing the Pump..... and when they include the Pump the price magically rises to around €700.
Had one done a few months ago at a relatively expensive (but good ) Indie.....€420.
Tyres should be the now almost universal 205/55R16. Most Tyre places are charging €50 each for Chinese Stuff. If the OP is not a hard Driver most of these should do him.

Assuming it's the 1.6 cr tdi the belt is due at 130k miles.

The Skoda price definitely includes the pump. The dealer you were dealing with must have had a knuckle dragger pricing that for you.

Not in this case. The Service Manager is an old Friend. The Dealers are quoting €375 to do the Belt....but,

    The small print;
    * Water Pump and Coolant not included on some variants and may be priced separately. Please consult your dealer.

apparently "some variants" seems to mean all variants

    Belt 500 give or take

    All pads all 4 wheels?
Say 30 or 40 a pair and 2 hrs labour

    Tyres
    Standard wheel say 16s?
    Standard tyres?
    100 to 150 a corner

    1000 to 1200

    Good indy not main dealer

Best keep him as an old friend then if he's looking to charge you 350 additional to fit a water pump while doing the timing belt.

Most places do the belt included for that. The VW €449 price definitely includes a pump so it's not unthinkable that the Skoda price does or at least should too.

A quick phone call and I can now reveal that I was out by around €100. This particular Dealer was asking a fiver shy of €600.
It was around last May when I priced this so I had to check back to confirm the quote.

Its the elegance model so I think it is the cr TDI version. THanks for the info.

I see online it says 130,000 Miles/208,000 now as well.
I have 160KM on it and should be up to around 180,000KM by March so think I will leave it till then when I have the extra cash.

I'll get the breaks and tyres done in the mean time. Thanks for the help.

I hope i never meet you in the wet! €160 for 4 tyres? I couldn't get a pair of front tyres for a smart for that

I'm replacing all 4 tyres on the CL at the moment and I'm looking at over €700 for anything branded. Don't wash your car, don't do anything cosmetic and spend the money on quality rubber instead

any parts fitted by skoda dealer will be guaranteed fr 2 years as far as i know (at least the rear wash wipe was on my o5 octavia when it was replaced a couple of years ago by a main dealer)

What utter rubbish. 20 plus years driving experience and never had found a ditch and have been in many unexpected driving conditions/situations

I’ve had extensive good quality tyres and now I have low cost good quality tyres

This lazy and tired argument is similar to people who say Alfas are terrible cars

    Ie know nothing

Link to these €40 tyres please?

Lets not drag another thread down the drain over bickering over cheap tyres, please. People can feel free to recommend a tyre they have experience with but lets not have another thread go into 10 pages of mush over cheap tyres.

OP, if you want to post your tyre size people can give you a better indication of what to expect. It's very hard to recommend a tyre without the size.

I seem to recall people posting here that if you get your VW serviced by a VW dealer then, at no extra cost, VW give 12 months breakdown cover and loaner car if necessary. ( IIRC This is a VW offer and not something that main dealers can opt out of ).

Do Skoda offer the same through Skoda main dealers ?

yeah, that's applicable to any VAG group cars. Handy for if you get a puncture, flat battery etc if you aren't practically minded. Although I would consider a good roadside assistance package a prerequisite of VAG car ownership :pac:.

Any link to Skoda.ie re this and also T&C etc ?

In the case of OP, if the brake work was done by a main dealer would that qualify the car for the breakdown program ?
