Hi all, need to get a surveyor and was wondering is there a general boards recommendation?

House is in Naas and we were quoted about €600. Is this not quite dear?

    Thanks for any help.

Recently I read an article about rural Ireland not being zoned for various uses. If someone wants to do anything, they need to apply for special planning permission which can be declined for any number of reasons. Hence, the would be project manager has no way of knowing if the local Councillors are simple rejecting everything pending payment of bribes or if there is some variation of their project that would be acceptable. Surely, Germanic type precision is needed to detail exactly what can only be allowed (if anything) in very specific plots throughout the entire country. That way, the Councillors cannot refuse permission or demand a bribe for projects that conform to the prescribed use.

Houses could be very different to be fair generally around the €500 mark is the norm, there are Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 surveys also (you'll get the definitions on google via the SCSI.)

Also generally you would be looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to carry out the survey. I have heard of people getting low cost surveys from a builder!

    As the saying goes....
If you think it's expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur
