City Bin seem to have added a new service to their offerings called City Junk

It's a really good idea. We've been caught with carpet roll and such. For the lazy prices are itemised and there a €30 min.

    €9 carpet roll
    €10 radiator
    €20 toilet
    €24 mattress (single)
    €30 sofa

Just a public service announcement check out Galway Freecycle. A great place for giving stuff that's still usable away.

Don't forget to check the city council for prices on their collection - city junk pricing is extortionate for multiple items.

I wouldn't agree with your term "extortionate"

I think for the odd one off it will prove to be a handy service considering they supply the manpower, transport and disposal.

Not overly expensive unless you were clearing out a hostel or something similar :D

I see they are offering half and full van loads too @ €136 for half van (7 CUY) and €199 for full van (14CUY) @ €199. Considerably cheaper than a skip providing the stuff you need to shift is junk and not waste.

I think City Bin pricing compares quite favourably with GCC prices https://www.galwaycity.ie/bulky-goods-collection#5. City Bin are more expensive for mattresses but otherwise pricing seems broadly similar from the quick glance I gave the list. City Bin seems much more convenient as you can choose a day and time that suits you whereas GCC is much more restrictive. I think they collect on a particular day each week at a time of their convenience. Nor would you receive advance notice of the collection time.

Ya GCC's one isn't great alright, particular items on particular days. VdeP collect too, and it's free.
