    Hi

My name is Ruan and i left Ireland 2 weeks ago.

I need to cancel my credit card account and would like to know:

    1. Can't I do this on line? I'm living in Brazil, very far away from Ireland.
    2. If I need to send a hand written letter, please post the address from which is faster, my branch in Limerick or the main office in Dublin.
    3. Can I ask a friend to post a printed version in Ireland?

    Regards
    Ruan

    Hi Ruan,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here.

You can request to cancel a credit card account over the phone or by sending in a written letter of request.
You can call to do this on 00353567757747.
If you're sending in a letter you can send this to

    Bank of Ireland,
    Account Closures Team,
    3rd Floor Operations Centre,
    Cabinteely, Dublin 18

    Before requesting closure we'd ask:

    1. GSD maybe charged upon closure.
    2. Ensure your credit card balance is cleared in full
    3. Cancel any third party direct debits/subscriptions with the retailer.

Government stamp duty is a Government tax. We collect this tax on behalf of the revenue each year on April 1st for the previous year or upon account closure. Further details on Government Stamp Duty can be found on

Thanks again for getting in touch.
      Darren.
