Is it cheaper to pay by card for everythinrather than get money out at ATM in Iceland

I was in Iceland for 5 days. I used my ATM at the ATM machine and was charged the following
    2.0% charge
    1.5%ERTF charge
    in total 3.5 % charge

Would it have been cheaper for me to use my ATM visa debit for paying for everything such as food/tours/clothes rather than getting money out at the ATM machine?

Depends on your bank. I am with AIB, so I take out the max €600 from an ATM and then pay for everything possible with cash.

If you are with PTSB it will be cheaper to use your card for everything.
