    Hi all,
Don't know if this is the right place to post this, mods plz move if it's not. My question is,is it worth while waiting until Black Friday to buy a TV ? Am looking at a 55/59 inch smart in DID for around €560. I don't have to buy immediately so have no problem waiting.

Bit of a standard answer from me but I'd try the richersounds forum here. Six year warranty as standard and usually best prices around. They are doing a black Friday price refund if price drops on black Friday

Personnel I wouldn't buy anything until balck Friday, say u buy a TV now but it doesn't reduce in price on black Friday but a different model potentially better drops to a great price u will be gutted. Leave ur options open if ur in no rush.

    +100 on this.
John, Kenny and the rest of the RS crew are a brilliant.
The Black Friday guarantee and a 6 year warranty with anything they sell is the icing on the cake.
I can hand on heart say apart from competitive pricing that the support they offer is second to none aswell.
Being buying from them for years and will keep going back.

Not electrical, i know, but I bought a sofa in Harvey's last year (black friday sale). I'd been keeping an eye on it for months (building an extension that i wanted it for, so wasn't in a hurry). It was about 1k but would routinely drop to €700 for their various 'sales'.

The day before the friday itself, until the sunday (thurs-sun) they dropped it to, if i recall, €630.

However, even last year, they didn't have the neck of dragging a supposed single-day sale out for nearly a month and making a mockery of it in the usual Harvey Norman fashion. I think it was a week-long sale (advertised mon-fri, but then on friday advertised as being extended for the weekend.. if i recall correctly).

So for me, the product i wanted was priced lower on the black friday say, than i'd seen it in the various other sales through the previous year. I can't comment, however, on other products obviously.

One thing the sales chap did say, was, because I didn't want the sofa for another 2 months, he advised putting a deposit on it of about €200, and if the price dropped any further than what I paid, i could bring it to their attention and get the lower price. However, since the Black Friday sale, the sofa has been back doing it's routine of alternating between 1k and €700 (although I don't check as often anymore obviously, as i already own it now).

Thanks for this. We have to fit out our new home so am interested to see will there be any bargains and where they will be best this year.

As someone with an LG smart tv which has just died after 2 and a bit years I would strongly recommend this (I didn't do it and now I'm throwing out the tv as it is not worth fixing apparently - what an age we live it! )

I think you’ve been unlucky. I got an LG Smart tv 6 years ago and it’s still perfect. Would you have any comeback under Irish legislation (pretty sure there’s a reasonable time a tv should last which supersedes your manufacturers warranty)

Are their tv's saorview. They are exactly the same price as the mainstream dealers here but I can't find out about saorview. They do offer better warranty though.

So are people driving up the North to richer sounds for TVs. I live in Kilkenny and can't see the advantage of doing that. Just checked prices and pretty much identical to whats on off here by most electrical shops. 6 year warranty is pretty good but not worth driving ip that far for me anyway.

As long as the tuner on the TV you are looking at supports DVB-T2 it will support Saorview.
On price they have a price match guarantee (on top of the Black Friday one) and they can nearly always sweeten the deal if you ask over on their forum.
On top of that, they really do know their stuff and offer great service and support.

As for driving up north, the deliver and cheaply too.
