Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thistlebond-it Wall Preperation

    Hi Folks,

I have agreed with my plasterer to skimcoat a large proportion of my house. I have however agreed to doing most of the prep work to keep costs down.

This involves bonding in the electrical chases which has been done but I also have to thistlebond-it the existing plaster surfaces for better adhesion.

My question is around preparation for this step. I have removed the existing wallpaper and the walls are in general clean and dust free. Do I need to do any other work before application? Some have suggested warm water and sugar soap to ensure that all of the paste has been removed. Is this a required step?

    Thanks

Scrape the walls fully down, this may mean dowsing them in warm water first with a regular garden plant sprayer bottle (5 litre ones you get in garden centre)

    The scrape it fully.

Afterwards, you need to wash it down with Sugar Soap and water. Good clean down. This is important for adhesion.

    Then roll on the thistlebond.
