Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has this been a below par Black Friday? Haven't seen too much excitement....the Anker Soundcore B from a few days ago seems to have been the last big frenzy on here or have I missed anything?

May be going the way of Arthur's Day, short lived craze (at least this side of the pond). I picked up a budget laptop on Tuesday on Amazon, same machine today was £98 more expensive.
Thought Amazon was very unwieldy to search for specific bargains etc. And after Brexit, and possibly no Amazon (or parcel motel or address pal without duties and vat), who/why would any retailer support it?

This very much, gotta not get caught up in the hype and check prices previously - typical consumer hypnotism convincing them they've got a bargain because it says 100 euro off (not looking at Argos or anything)

I have Keepa on my browser and i did see some things were raised way up and then dropped a bit for today
some do seem to be genuine drops as well, but i think for myself, and everyone i have talked to lately, it's a case of looking for something you've already been wanting and trying not to get suckered in!

Yea, it was a bit meh. And nice deals on memory cards and stuff like that, but nothing too special. I wish I had been able to pick up Anker Soundcore B though. At least I picked up the Anker battery bank on the cheap.

I found the Anker stuff came down for cyber Monday last year. Might be worth a look then.

I’m majorly pissed off I missed the Bose QC 35ii on Amazon.de yesterday for €249 :( was hoping the Uk site would follow suit but it didn’t happen... hoping for Monday though.

Have you looked at the Sony xm2?
I've had the bose and the xm2 and much prefer the sonys

Yes, I’ve tried a few pairs and have been using the Bose QC 35s for the past 2 years and love them. Fancied an upgrade to the Mk ii and at €249 it was a serious bargain. Doubt they’ll come down to that price again though.

    €264 at EGlobalCentral.

Even at 250 though, to be honest I'd want it to go down to 200-220 for me to seriously consider picking them up. I had that Amazon.de page open at the time of the deal and didn't go for it.

Is it possible to buy a bigger cable?

It's just a usb to micro usb cable is it?

Why are people using parcel motel for items that have free delivery to Ireland?

Guessing for ease of collection..people working during the day etc

it can get to you quicker even with prime to ireland, lots of items don't do 2 day delivery to Ireland also but will to uk, also people working so not at home to sign for delivery

For me, An Post are a disaster as I live in an apt complex so postbox size is limited.
But even small envelope like packets don't get delivered by them, just a notice that I have to collect from sorting office and that costs me a fiver on bus fares plus over an hour+ of my time

A huawei band 3 fitness tracker in my basket just went from £59 to €82 so I expect that to drop back to £59 on Cyber Monday and be ehralded as a big drop by Amazon :(

Picked up mine about an hour ago. For a 12w speaker it has plenty of oomph, I played some dirty drum and bass on it and it was vibrating away like a good thing.

Been following the Sony wh1000xm2 all week and finally decided to go for them. €199 on Amazon Spain atm and I dont think they will get any cheaper. You wont find a better set of NC headphones under €200.

I've been convincing myself the whole week whether I need this or not. I listened to Bose CQ 35 II and prefer the sound of that (compared it to XM3), ANC is about the same. But Bose is more expensive and even then... Do I need it? I don't know...

Honestly, I could have done without them also. Never had NC headphones before and wanted to get ones for when flying. Instead of paying about €100 for a mediocre set I thought I would push the boat out and get decents ones while I can. I havent tested them in person but all reviews say they are quite good.

Oh they are amazing! Block out the sounds really well. I don't remember which one was it though, but with one them I got a feeling of cabin pressure when ANC was on, as if there was some pressure on my ears, I read that it takes time to get used to it. I fly rarely so I could not use that as an excuse ;)

Currys Ireland have Kindle paperwhite for €105. this seems to compare favourable to Amazon @ £89, or am I missing something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭scamalert

people say brexit and other crap when black friday half decade ago wasn't even heard in Ireland. its ****ty deals each year, theres few items that are specific that they usually let prices down on, rest is all same rubbish one can get for usually same price all year long.

like someone found synthesizer headphones that were 100pound cheaper, drills etc , but most of the items would be just niche.

Good price but god help you if you need any after sales support. I'll never buy anything from that shower again, regardless of price and I doubt I'm the only one.
