Not sure if this is the right place, and this is a bit of a long shot really.

I have an old Apple Airport Express lying around that I've always wanted to put to some good use.
I also recently bout some Sonoff WiFi plugs.

It got me thinking - could I use the Airport express as a WiFi network for the plugs without connecting to the internet? Maybe use an old phone I have essentially as a remote control?

Or am I living in fantasy land?

Not without flashing your own firmware.

Even when your phone and the Sonoff are on the same network the commands go through Ewelink servers. No internet, no control.
