Yeah, our trophy cabinet is getting a bit cluttered.

So far this year we've won the Millennium trophy, the Triple Crown, the Six Nations, the Lansdowne Cup and the Centenary Quaich.

And we have the Brown Cup at the moment as well.

What is that? Never heard of it.

NZ will find Ireland hard to beat in the future. The monkey is gone now and Ireland will never fear them again.

They might fear us if anything, absolute kryptonite.

It should also be noted how impactful some of the Irish Lions were in particular last year. There was already a bit of fear for Murray, SOB and maybe Furlong.

I'm sure the Kiwi media will be adding James Ryan, Peter O'Mahony and Stander to that list now.

I think its Furlong has them sussed. Would I be correct that he has only been on the loosing side to them twice in the 6 tests they have tried to beat him ?

Correct. Two wins with Ireland, one more with the Lions and a draw.

Rte gave marmion 6.5/10 because he's not Conor Murray.

Complained he was slower with passing (he is, but he was accurate which is important) and complained about his kicking.

For my money, he didn't do much if any pointless kicks at all. He slotted in very, very well and were blessed we've such a good back up 9

They gave Carberry a 7 and he was barely on the pitch long enough to be rated

Marmion was a very solid performer. Did everything he need to do and did it very well.

I think our box kicks tonight were meant to be short and high. Get bodies around the land zone so the NZ back 3 don't get much space to counter from.

Awesome. I was wrong. I apologize. I said we'd win by 4. So sorry lads.
I knew we'd win. We have the depth and confidence now. Delighted for Marmion, no fear of him stepping up from now on. Stockdale is going to be the best winger we've ever produced. He's only 22 and already he's the business. I can't imagine how good he's going to be.
It's brilliant for Luke McGrath also you be a part of this. He too is knocking on the door and he's upped his game so much over the last 3 yrs.
Vdf has been the form 7 all year and he could play against anybody and I wouldn't blink an eye.
Toner makes all the difference to the line out. Undroppable right now.
Ringrose is just far and away the best 13 we have and he also will improve.
Kiwis are very beatable and vulnerable right now. England should have also beaten them. They have a lot to fix this coming year and most likely they will.
They are not the fittest team anymore and the skill gap is closing. Our fitness level is mad! See the match v France. Unbelievable levels of intensity and fitness.
Anyway, I won't get to see the match, only the highlights until it's posted on YouTube. Delighted for all fans and players and my sympathies to scrubsfanchris on your loss.
    Carry on.

We have to be favourite for the world cup now. I know we have never got passed the QF but surely if we don't win it now it will go down as a failure. We need to have the NZ mentality

Funny cos I thought tonight we looked busted in the last 15mins or so, when the AB were coming on strong.

The WC is a different kettle of fish compared to beating NZ in a friendly. You are talking a prolonged campaign and all the injuries that come with it, plus the AB will be out for blood next time they play us. Roll on 2019! :D

I didn't think Ireland would hold on but they did. Great effort by our boys. Great for the game and for Ireland. Records there to be broken.

World Cup will be interesting next year with New Zealand slightly dropping back.

Ireland are the form team but England, Wales, France and South Africa are improving to.

It’s a different competition and will be really really interesting to see how it pans out.

At this point for this team, there's only one trophy that matters. And we've never been in even a SF for that.

My GF was talking last week about us taking the #1 spot in the rankings if NZ lost against England and we won, and I tried to explain how much that doesn't matter and the only thing that matters is next year.

Today was exceptional. But matters **** all unless we reach at least a SF next year.

For now though, I'm getting drunk.

o Mahoney is unbelievable what a man what a warrior. Some player.

Thought Best was sloppy with one or two of his passes could have been disastrous if they ended up in NZ hands.

Thought Ringrose was very quiet myself today, i feel vindicated that Aki is the better player
Kearney mixed brilliant with sloppy, Earls the same.
If Zebo had not left Munster one of them would be out perhaps they should be already.
Ireland imo had two captains on the pitch neither of them named Best. But sadly he is just better than Cronin at lineouts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,501 ✭✭✭swiwi_

Well played. Thought Stander, POM and RK were outstanding.

Not a lot to say, Ireland were just that bit better and deserved the win.

    Enjoy your evening.

Ringrose was excellent. Was the Irish back with the most completed tackles today. Youre just seeing what you want to see. He was also tasked with being Ireland's secondary playmaker. Did a rather good job of it too.

I felt something like 2013 was on the cards (although they could only draw this time) when we kicked the ball back to them in the last 2 minutes.

    Happily it wasn’t to be.

Ringrose was really good tonight imo. His positioning and ability to snuff out danger and close out gaps in wider channels is legendary

Jaypers I really hope we don't have to put up with much of this

The world cup is a full 10/11 months away a lot can and will change in that time. Either way in a knockout tournament it only takes one freakishly bad performance or raft of injuries or whatever and it can be the end of the road.

For now attention needs to be on the 6n and solely the 6n. A loss or two in that campaign and today will very soon become ancient history

Today is really a "where were you moment" and feels like the first time we beat them

I was in section 140 and quite a passionate bunch around me and loved the AB fans outside lineing up and congratulating us on the win, great fans

I would say I am incredibly jealous, but I had Cardiff in 09 and Murrayfield 15 which were epic (a few other 6N aswell but not as special)

Remember it, savour it and drink it in

    Happy days.

I took a picture in 2013 of the scoreboard at the 74min waiting to post on fb to say I was there the day Ireland beat the All Blacks. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. I was there on 2016 also in Dublin and they lost. I missed the game today and they win. I would have loved to be there.

Zebo wouldn't be. He's not nearly as tactically astute, compared to earls and Kearney.

Earls always had 2 NZ players covering him when he was out wide.

Zebo for his little moments of brilliance, is more than capable of sloppiness and is not as reliable as either

They've won a grand slam, a series in the southern hemisphere and beaten the all blacks all while zebo has had zero involvement. It's a laughable claim

Cronins only had one bad throw imo it was the lack of a leader there to call them there was the problem pretty sure they asked Sexton what they should call at one stage. Without toner and pom it went drastically downhill at lineout time

Wayne Barnes just really isn't very fond of us, is he? Wasn't it him that also allowed Wales something like 8-10 penalties in a row right on the try line without giving any as a penalty try?
Just on this. Lots of penalties on a try line dont mean at all a side should get a penalty try. Nothing in laws suggest that or imply you get a try for lots of penalties conceded. Its about probable try being conceded. Nothing less than that

    Best is done.

    Best was absolutely brilliant today.

Watch the game back. Take out the two handling errors and it was exactly the type of game we needed from him. He was a menace at the breakdown and had a much better time of it in the set piece.

Mental game to be at. Fairly shook now and not looking forward to having to drive hundred miles to referee in the morning....
Really have to watch game back to have proper look at things but what a back 5 performance from the pack. Cant fault anyone but 4-8 were so good at everything it just was unbelievable.

Class to see the team make history

The kiwis will be sick puppies today, lived in nz last year, they are obsessed with rugby , its their bread and butter, they wont like losing.
