Importing goods from Australia

Not sure if this is the right place for this post. I was looking at some audio recording equipment in Australia. The goods come to 349 AUD or 225 EURO and there's no shipping charge. But what kind of charges am I looking at for importing these goods since they are outside the EU. Thanks

NET PRICE (without VAT): 225 euro
VAT (23%): 51.75 euro
TOTAL PRICE (VAT included): 276.75 euro

If it is shipped standard post, then An Post will charge €10 (Maybe €12 now) handling fee.
If it is shipped via courier (DHL, DPD, UPS etc.) then they can charge around €15 handling fee.

If the shipping cost is not marked clearly outside the parcel and DHL are shipping it, they will use their 'volumetric weight' to guess the shipping cost, which could add an extra e.g. €40 or more to the VAT.

That puts a bad sting into what I thought would be a good deal. Guess I'll try to source one in the eu
